Boto Silverstaff was born in the province of Harfjörd (renamed Orichlan a century earlier, the locals of Bardur had a tendency to be stubborn to the old ways) to Raemon Silverstaff and Nala Silverstaff (Farrest). His father feared the deadly Fogholt Plague and spent his time researching in the North to protect his family. Remus grew up to complete his father's research with his younger brother Remus and built both the Spellstrung College and Magi Guild in Skygarde.
Zara died of the Fogholt Plague only shortly before Remus found a vaccine. The last she spoke to her husband was when she confronted him about his attempted infidelity with the researcher Alma Nuada. Remus admitted to his attempts and spoke about how he was defeated by Alma's lover but by the time he returned north, he had forgotten the name and face of the man he scorned.
