Moira Silverstaff
Moira Silverstaff, the middle child of the renowned Silverstaff family, is a brilliant yet overshadowed alchemist whose contributions to Galfin’s history often go uncredited. Gifted in research and alchemy, she played a pivotal role in uncovering the cure for the devastating Fogholt Plague. While her brothers, Remus and Boto, garnered recognition for their efforts in Fogholt, Moira worked tirelessly from Silvermound, collaborating with Alma Nuada and Kenneth Xing to crack the disease’s alchemical complexities. Yet her strained relationship with Remus, driven by his ego and their conflicting values, left her name excluded from the accolades. Only Boto, her steadfast ally, consistently supported her throughout their family’s trials.
Moira’s compassion extended beyond her research. She served as a midwife for Alma Nuada, nurturing the young Iona Nuada during her formative years. When Iona later fled the Seekers and adopted Moira’s name as a symbol of her teachings, it created a lasting rift between Moira and her younger brother, who saw it as an insult to their legacy.
Now older and wiser, Moira resides in Alchatraz and serves as the Master Professor of Alchemy at the Sterling in Silvermound. Devoted to her craft and her students, she values the pursuit of knowledge above personal glory. Though her connection with Remus remains fractured, her enduring love for her family and her quiet brilliance have solidified her legacy.
