Jaggedking Aefic Oakhand
Jaggedking Aefic Oakhand
Aefic ascended to the throne at the young age of 12, after the brutal death of his father, Mageking Odalric Oakhand. His father had been slain by the Oathblades—sworn ogre guardians of the Spyre mountains—when Odalric defied the cultural law demanding the death of Aefic’s twin sister, Adney, who bore the cursed blood. This tragedy shaped Aefic’s early years, and he was raised by his great ancestor Adonis, a legendary figure among the mountain folk, until Adonis mysteriously vanished. The weight of the crown was heavy on young Aefic’s head, but he grew into a ruler of great measure, driven by an unwavering ambition to expand his nation and rule the mountains with magic-fuelled armies and spellswords.
Guided by the Council of Lanterns, Aefic forged the nation of Vuulydon by claiming the southern Firefang Jags. He declared himself the Jaggedking, reflecting the ideology of the Vuul, a faction that believed those with the greatest magical prowess were destined to rule. The Vuul sought expansion, while the dissenting Indran Seven—who Aefic denied from the council—wanted the nation to focus inward, protecting the people within their borders. This tension between magical superiority and internal welfare marked much of Aefic’s reign.
Aefic's life was defined by aggressive leadership, seeking to push his nation to new heights while safeguarding the Oakhand legacy. He fathered his son, Ryndal, in his later years, but the memory of his sister’s death lingered as a reminder of the cursed bloodline. In his twilight years, Aefic retreated into the solace of nature, and at the age of 100, he passed away peacefully while fishing for sturgeon, far from the mountain halls and responsibilities that had defined his long reign.
