Ivoria - Defunct

Sitting on the Eastern edge of the mainland continent, Ivoria is a nation of battle and honor. Barbarians who fight each other for limited resources and rights to rule. The Eastking commands this dangerous land.   Throughout its existence, Ivoria has been governed by the Windslayer Clan, a proud and honorable barbarian clan descending from the Onnarian Heathlands. The Windslayers, known for their unwavering loyalty to the Eastking and their kingdom, have a storied lineage of combat and conquest, commanding respect and fear from both allies and enemies. Their strict adherence to the Code of the Clans, a set of ancient laws and traditions, shapes their conduct and distinguishes them in battle.   Within Ivoria, the succession of power follows a unique path. The oldest male child of the Eastking assumes the role of the heir, yet any other siblings may challenge the firstborn. A Referendum is then held, where the Cinnidh Chiefs, the local clan leaders of Ivoria, cast their votes to determine the better ruler. If no single sibling can secure fifty percent of the Cinnidh Chief votes, an Eastern Moot is called. This dangerous tournament of skill and honor takes place exactly one year after the previous Eastking's demise, providing an opportunity for those in line for the throne to prove their worth. According to the laws, if no sibling emerges victorious in the referendum, all direct lines, one generation removed, are eligible to partake in the Eastern Moot, even if they are cousins challenging a direct son with the living grandparent connection.   4E, 1   The story of Ivoria begins in the 4th Era when Ivorus Windslayer, a formidable warrior, vanquished Durke Drixtin, the last of the barbarian Dreadchiefs. With this victory, Ivorus would be the next Dreadchief but instead named this the end of the title as he took on the mantle of the first Eastking. However, it would take another century for this title to hold true authority over an actual nation. Ivorus claimed not only the warriors, but also the people and the land of the Dreadchief.   4E, 15 - The Battle of Skatterrok   Ivorian forces clash with a neighboring clan, the Harkett Clan, in a fierce battle near the Skatterrok Mounds. The Windslayers demonstrate their prowess in combat, ultimately securing victory and expanding Ivorus' territory. The remaining Harkett were given a single dagger between the dozen of them and forced to walk straight into the Tanglewood Forest. None were seen again.   4E, 51 - Founding of Ivoria This nation of Ivoria is formed.   In the early years of Ivoria, the Windslayers, in collaboration with the Bronze Bulls of the Rawlins, forged alliances and established stability by conquering neighboring clans. The nation of Ivoria took shape in the Onnarian Heathlands, stretching eastward.   4E, 172 - Clash with the Durkeson Clan   As Ivoria grew, it encountered threats from the powerful Durkeson Clan, led by Bran Durkeson, a descendant of Durke. Rising from the Vargen Swamplands, Bran Durkeson orchestrated a rebellion, but Ivoria swiftly quelled the uprising, annexing both the Heathlands and a portion of the Swamps. They escaped extinction by sailing to the nearby isle off of Vargen. Naming their settlement Durke, they became sea raiders attacking the coast and the nation of Pacura.   4E, 220 - The Riversword Revolt   A group of disgruntled warriors known as the Riverswords rise up against the rule of the Eastking. Their rebellion threatens to destabilize Ivoria, but with strategic maneuvers and decisive action, the Windslayer's suppress the rebellion and maintain their control over the nation. The Riverswords had a ritual of embedding a swords into the slow river basin near Rageus. This was similar to a tombstone in their culture. They drive the blade down so that it is almost gone beneath the water and the hilt is all that remains. Eastking Hermen Windslayer slaughtered the whole faction and placed all their swords in the water. That river was named the Hilted Rill and the rusted swords are still there today.   4E, 323   Ivoria forms an alliance with the Tevesh Clan to combat a surging clan of cannibals that invades their lands. The united forces successfully repel the invaders and protect Ivoria's territories. The Fleshrender Pack was chased out of the Heathlands and found a new home in the Broken Pass mountain in Erod Mercadia.   4E, 375 - The Trade Summit of Virendel   Ivoria hosts a trade summit in the city of Virendel, bringing together leaders from neighboring nations to discuss trade, alliances, and regional security. The summit helps foster diplomatic relations and strengthens Ivoria's position as a regional power. Fritz invited the aging Amauri Skytracer and her teenage daughter Beonette, Ravan Tevesh as well as the leaders of the Blood Ogre Tribe that resided in Ivoria's section of the Swamps. Amauri was disgusted by this and requested the beast be removed. There was a skirmish outside the city walls of Dharan Priests and Blood Ogre Warriors. The ogres were perturbed while Ivoria and Erod Mercadia brokered a trade network shipping out of Hiborane and up the Tradeways to Skygarde.   4E, 460   Ivoria and Erod Mercadia join forces to fight against the werewolf faction known as the Duskmane Clan. Their victory results in the division of the Duskmane land between Ivoria and Erod Mercadia, establishing land borders between the two nations. The only land between them was the region owned by the Tevesh, who have succumbed to vampirism in the century since they fought alongside the Ivorians.   4E, 465 - The Battle of the Broken Pass   Ivoria faces a formidable enemy in the Fleshrender Pack, a group of savage warriors who relocated into lone, broken mountain located inside Erod Mercadia. The nineteen year old Eastking, Beorge Windslayer, joined the Flatland Militia In the Battle of the Broken Pass, the Windslayers and their allies launch a daring offensive, routing the Fleshrender Pack and securing the pass as a strategic stronghold.   4E, 512   The Tevesh Clan attempts to expand outward, encountering resistance from both Erod Mercadia and Ivoria. The two nations collaborate once again, defeating the vampire plague and claiming the newly acquired land as their own.   4E, 515 - The Great Hunt of the Moonlit Moors   Beorge Windslayer, now almost 70, organizes a grand hunting expedition in the vast Moonlit Moors, a treacherous and untamed wilderness on the edge of the Heathlands and Vargen. The Great Hunt not only showcases the hunting skills of the Ivorian warriors but also serves as a unifying event for the clans and reinforces their bond with the land. All the Cinidh Chiefs are invited to witness Beorge's son Humphridus who has become a renowned hunter. This event helped Humphridus secure enough votes to take the mantle of Eastking from his father.   4E, 523 - The Last Eastking of Ivoria   Humphridus gains enough votes during the Referendum to secure his spot. He becomes Eastking, little does he know the nation he rules will dissolve within his lifetime.   4E, 535   The mainland is now almost fully covered by major nations. Mercadia rested to Ivoria's West and the Vul'Adnian Magistrate had expanded from the FIrefang Jags into the other half of the Vargen Swamplands. The leaders of these nations all descended from the Six Heroes of Dhara and thus has a shared truce that dated back to the beginning of the Fourth Era.   4E, 540   Ivoria is stricken with a drought and famine. The nation was built on raiding neighbours but now that their borders are full, natural resources and agriculture are not a strong suit for the Ivorians. The people here are becoming hungry and desperate. Revolt and infighting is happening all around.   4E, 541 - The Siege of Hedgespire Keep   During a time of external aggression with the blood ogres of Dhigg'Dhul, Galen Voss led the defense of Hedgespire Keep against a relentless enemy siege. His skillful tactics and innovative weaponry, including his renowned warrior kin not only repelled the invaders but also instilled a sense of pride and resilience in the Ivorian forces, solidifying their determination to protect their homeland. Galen was commended by Eastking Humphridus as the nation was under duress from the drought and famine.   4E, 548 - The Raids of the Goblin Horde   Dissatisfied with the leadership of the current Eastking, the chaotic goblins of the Mound grew particularly aggressive against the Windslayers' rule. The horde was always a problem but usually kept to their own province of Hulehigg. With food remaining scarce, the goblins grew more bold as they began a minor civil war with the neighbouring province of Greywyn. Greywyn was home to many strong werewolves so the goblins knew they could not win in an even fight. The wolves of Greywyn were nomadic farmers during the day. The goblins knew their neighbours were the best farmers in Ivoria. They began to raid midday, fast and aggressive. Killing Greys to plunge Ivoria into a potential civil war. The Heap King at the time was challenged by the Cinnidh Chief of Greywyn. Humphridus negotiated an agreement, the Grey leader was allowed his challenge but the goblin leader was allowed to pick the time and place. The cunning goblin pick midday in the Political Pit, a fighting hole where goblins vying for leadership were tossed into. Whoever remained was declared the Heap King. No rules of honor or fair fighting was required in the pit. The goblin though himself smart but did not know that this chief had great control of his curse. It was not the moon that determined his transformation but his own mind. Once the battle began, the snarling and howl of a wolf was heard by all in witness. A grey furred werewolf crawled out of the pit and places the eviscerated head of the Heap King at the feet of the Eastking. The Greywyn Chief told the Eastking and the Goblins to stay out of Greywyn. As much as the goblin raids were quelled by this, as the Eastking made sure a more malleable Heap King was chosen, the Greys could end up being a much larger problem for the struggling nation.     4E, 552   The leader of Mercadia, Sadie Skytracer dies in a mysterious event known as the Skygarde Incident. Her daughter is too young to rule so her father Sal steps back in. He is frail and the other major houses see this. Ivoria and the Vul'Adnian Magistrate attack the wealthy, fertile Mercadia and the 550 years of peace are broken as the Fracturing War begins. The Fracturing War fell across Galfin. The Plainsqueen had the most riches filled kingdom of the mainland. As she fell to unknown circumstances, the other families enacted their plan against the Skytracer Family and their gold. The Oakhand's of the Vuul and Windslayer's of Ivoria began attacking Plainsking Sal's borders. The current Eastking, Humphridus Windslayer, did not plan this grand betrayal, it was orchestrated by the cunning Gilberd Oakhand of the Vul'Adnian Magistrate.   4E, 553   Sal is killed on the battlefield when the Tung family betrayed him and allied with the Ivorian barbarians. He is killed as he led a defence against the Ivorian army attacking the farms surrounding Skygarde. Ivoria is stealing as much food as they can to keep their soldiers fed while also sending as much back to their homeland as possible. The young teen, Ella Skytracer, daughter of Sadie takes over as Plainsqueen of Mercadia.   4E, 554   Ella agrees to marry the young son of the Curdrake Family. A mage and noble knight named Darius Curdrake. This alliance gave new breath to their fighting chances as the Curdrake's had many noble houses on their side. The next two years were full of brutal conflict. The generals held their ground as best they could. The Fracturing War looked bleak for Mercadia but in a final moment of trust, Ella allied with the wild elves of Galfin who were rivals and enemies of man for the last 15 centuries. 4E, 555   Humphridus Windslayer is executed by Ella Skytracer's husband, Daruis Curdrake in the field of battle. Engram Windslayer becomes the Electorate (eldest son of the Eastking, a temporary title awaiting any challenge from his kin) as a Referendum is called. He announces Ivoria's surrender to the Mercadian army.   Ella and Mercadia, the naturalistic elves and the nation of Palandis were able to fight back and declare victory in the year 4E, 555. Ella knew that borders and nations caused constant infighting and conflict. She abolished her own country as well as every other nation on the mainland.   5E, 1   Ella became Highqueen of the newly formed Joint Armistice Lands. The leaders of the nations were allowed to keep their titles while bending the knee to the new monarch of the mainland continent. The nation of Ivoria was dissolved and the region was named after it's natural features. The name of the region was previously the Onnarian Heathlands, the surrendering Engram requested it be officially called the Ivorian Heathlands from now on to honor the nation that once was and the founding member of his house, Ivorus. The Highqueen allowed that. Ivoria was now the Ivorian Heathlands. Under Ella's rule, the Joint Armistice Lands aimed to foster unity among the former nations, moving passed their previous conflicts.   Today, the Windslayer Clan continues to thrive within the Ivorian Heathlands. Led by Addikus Windslayer, the current Eastking, they embody the same pride, honor, and loyalty that have defined them throughout history. Renowned for their fearsome martial skills and unwavering bravery. Though their nation has dissolved and their borders have faded, the Windslayers remain steadfast allies to their friends and protectors against all threats, both from within and beyond the Ivorian Heathlands.                                 The Battle of Thornwood Pass: Location: Thornwood Pass, a treacherous mountain pass in the Ivorian Heathlands. This Treaty fell apart as Pacura split into 9 distinct islands instead of one united front.   Great Feast to the Boar: Location: Hedgespire, in the central feast hall of Ivoria's capital city of Arboran. Key Individuals: Representatives from various Ivorian clans and noble houses. Significance: In a display of unity and solidarity, the Great Boar Feast brought together leaders from different clans and noble houses to reaffirm their commitment to Ivoria's stability and prosperity. They revelled and ate the food gathered after 3 days of hunting in the Mooncrest.
