The War for Huelva

A short, but bloody conflict, the War for Huelva was a nearly successful attempt by awakened agents of Al'Shan Kull to wipe out the armies of the Kingdoms of Yorleoux and the Kingdom of L'yon in one fell swoop. Convincing the King of Yorleoux, Charlemagne de la Roche III, that his son's recent assassination was committed by a well known L'yonian trader, the agents of Al'Shan Kull deceived Charlemagne into quickly attacking the Kingdom of L'yon through Hermit's Pass, hoping to lure the two kingdom's armies into battle.    The Yorleouxan army entered Hermit's Pass on the 18th day of Juno, officially declaring war on the Kingdom of L'yon. Striking quickly, Charlemagne hoped to take Huevla Castle by surprise and if not for the martial brilliance of Asada Ziyad II, he may have had what he wanted. Though unable to send reinforcements immediately, the Kingdom of L'yon held Huelva Castle for two and a half grueling weeks. In the Siege of Huelva, Asada prevented Charlemagne's army from being able to take to the walls by attacking Charlemagne's forces in daring night raids that left Charlemagne's supplies and siege equipment in ruins. This stalwart defense bought the Kingdom of L'yon time to push the undead army of Al'Shan Kull back into his Monolith and contain them long enough to send an army north to relieve Huelva Castle's weary defenders. When the L'yonian army led by King Manol met with Charlemagne's forces near Hermit's Pass, Al'Shan Kull's trap was finally revealed.   Having enticed a large band of orcish and goblinoid mercenaries known as Gorelik's Reavers with treasure and promises of unholy power, the agents of Al'Shan Kull had pulled of a nearly perfect misdirection. What they hadn't planned on how powerful the remaining Great Six were after being joined by heroes Creol Travalor (The Dreamer), Katarina Lucretia ViHart Delacroix, nor had they anticipated Charlemagne's ability to control his rage. Suspecting betrayal, Charlemagne ordered the bulk of his forces to retreat, but stayed with his personal guard and the Chevaliers de Rose Pourpre to fight alongside the L'yonians against Gorelik's Reavers who were now reinforced by hill giants, and several powerful agents of Al'Shan Kull. Bloody til the end, victory for our heroes rang true when Brenda McClanihan caved in Morlek Gorelik's skull with her war hammer, scattering what was left of the now leaderless Reavers. Though suffering many losses, the conjoined forces of L'yon and Yorleoux manage to deliver a critical victory over Al'Shan Kull.
