Operation Equinox

A mass rebellion in Neruseru called the Vesperi-Neruseri Conflict began when a conspiracy of native miners murdered dozens of security and management personnel and tried to seize control of the mines. Several of the slain were Vesperian citizens and their families, and news of particularly savage executions and unspeakably brutal treatment of wives and children led to widespread demands for a reprisal from the City of Light.
Led by Commander Marsettor Jov, Artek besieged the entirety of Neruseru in the hopes of starving out the terrorists, steadily 'tightening the noose' over the course of four months. Artek came to control the entirety of the Tribal Nation except the mines themselves, which had been transformed into a massive fortress that withstood siege for another month. During that month, Commander Marsettor Jov was assassinated by the Neruseri and replaced by Hafferty Jov, a former medic from the Sunrise Offensive that had risen through the ranks and had been managing much of the on-the-ground organization.
Commander Hafferty had allegedly managed to reduce casualties on both sides during his two months of leadership, with some claiming he was seeking to negotiate with the terrorists and others suggesting he was planning a massive offensive. The truth will never be known, however. An order to withdraw was given, followed immediately by the arrival of the first militarized Aerostatics: three airships outfitted with super-naval munitions. After a single day of aerial bombing, the terrorists surrendered unconditionally. The royal family of Neruseru went into exile, replaced by a democratically-elected president, and control of the mines was returned to their legal owners.
