Artek

Meaning "Armed Technology," Artek is the largest branch of the Vesperian military, and the term is often used to refer to the military as a whole. Artek encompasses both infantry and earthbound heavy munitions.
The backbone of Artek is the Hoplite, the basic foot soldier. They are typically deployed in teams of either one dozen each or two-hundred each. Both of these divisions are called Phalanxes, a somewhat confusing practice born from the Whitehound term "Phalanx," used in reference to their twelve-person anti-riot deployments (which, adding to the confusion, have been rebranded as "Wolfpacks" in more recent years). Officially, twelve-person Artek phalanxes are simply called Dozens, but it is more common in the field to use the term "Phalanx" interchangeably for both sizes, with context usually making intention clear.
