This is the first RP to leave Wreque as a setting.

After a bit of relaxing and chatting with newly made friends, Zazikel decided it was time to do some work
Thus, there he was, looking over the job board as his tail swished back and forth slowly

There were a lot of jobs posted. Including some that were listed as open contracts. Just ask an administrative assistant and get assigned to a random client in need of protection, or a random guardsmen preparing for a patrol into the city sewers, or with a senior guildmemeber going out into the surrounding mountains to hunt Trolls, or to possibly even spar with one of the noble families of the city!

Hunting was nice, he liked hunting whenever he could, so this job sounded nice to him

The line moves quickly enough that soon he is called over to an administrative assistant, a Dwarf with a very intricate beard.

He pulls his backpack to the front of himself, rummaging through it before taking out the paper and handing it over
"Here you go!"

The Dwarf takes it, and sets it on the desk.
Then a parchment is pulled from a drawer, and placed in the notice of approval. Another form is taken out.
"Are ya using a Guild room? If so, would ya like a cut of ya earnings to be diverted to payin for ya lodgings, each month?"

"Yes, that sounds like a good idea!"

It is noted. The parchment is lifted from the notice, and it has a large amount of writing on it now. Far more then was on the notice.
The Dwarf looks at it.
"Alright, Zazikel. Yer all set in our records. Ya said ya wanted to do a troll patrol? We have two still looking for members to join. One leaving tonight, lead by Gurni. And another in a couple days, led by Pierce. Either o those interest ya?"

He thinks for a bit
"I think im fine with doing the one leaving tonight.."

"Ah can get you attached to it. Gurni and the others'll be leavin from in front of the main hall just after sundown tonight."
The Dwarf does some more paper work, and finally sets things to the side, and flags a runner down to take some other paper work.
"Anythin else ah can do for ya?"

He gives a polite bow before leaving the line

The line was roughly the same length as when he got into it, so it seemed they were always about this busy!

He decides to take a seat nearby, busying himself with checking his notebook until it was time to leave

As sundown gets closer, he can see a pink tiefling wander into the area, a traveling pack on.
She looks very enthusiastic, and seems to be looking around for someone or something.

The closer it gets to dark, the less people there are in the main hall, its constant masses finally thinning.

He takes his chances, putting his notebook back in his bag before getting up and walking over to the tiefling
"Uhm..excuse me? Are you looking for someone specific?"

He hums happily, holding out his hand for a handshake
"Im Zazikel, i suppose we are hunting partners for this job!"

She happily shakes his hand.
"So, have you met this Gurni? Goorni? Dwarf before?"

"Nope! According to my notes ive never seen them before!"

He looks to the side and lets out a small puff of icy mist, before looking back at Cati
"But ive also gotten kinda used to it"

She points out her small horns and pointed teeth, bearing them so she can poke one of her fingers with a tooth

He reaches over to pull his tail onto his lap
"Like my tail, i forget about it alot until it bumps into something or someone points it out"

They both hear an accented voice from above them.

He makes a slight noise of surprise, looking towards the source of the voice

He sees a bangle patterned tabaxi lazing on a support beam along the ceiling, staring at the two of them with big wide eyes.

"Hello! Are you also here for the troll hunting job?"

"Indeed I am!"
The tabaxi perks up, and after a moments consideration, hops down from the rafter and lands near the pair, making a miscalculation and not keeping any semblance of traction as she scrables to find a good purchase, stopping on all fours with her tail fully extended and poofed. She then clears her throat as she gets her balance back.
"It was Zazikel, yes? And Cati? I am Gale of the Storm of the Magical Mountain Clan! You can call me Gale."
She gives the two a slow blink as she speaks her name.

He hears a brief, slight organic rumble from Gale.

A pleased rumble escapes his throat once more, and he reaches over to pat on the floor next to him
"Would you like to sit with us? We're just waiting for Gurni to arrive at this point"

A loud gruff voice can be heard, accompanied by heavy foot falls.
"Then ye better be standin up."
The sudden voice causes Gale to startle, leaping a good few feet up into the air and twisting to land facing the noise.
A sqaut broad figure with a crest of hair and a short braided beard can be seen, a sizable axe chained to his hand. Tattoos cover his exposed upper body. No doubts this was Gurni.

He watches Gale's leap and landing, giving her a small fascinated clap before getting up, dusting himself off a little before looking at Gurni (edited)

He stomps passed them and towards the exit of the hall.
The Dwarf seemed very driven and determined.

He then checks to make sure he has all his gear, following Gurni out of the hall once he was sure he had everything (edited)

For being as short as he is, Gurni had a good pace.
The others make sure their things are in order and follow Zazikel out.
Gurni doesn't break stride as he leaves the hall.
He shakes his head a little before he speaks.
"Three younglings. Any of you three have any death wishes? Or did ya just pass off fate somehow?"

Zaz thinks for a few seconds, hand subconsciously moving over to brush against his bag charm a bit
"I think its the latter for me.."

Cati barely takes time to consider.
"Oh, I'm sure I've pissed some kind of higher power off. At least once!"
Gale takes the longest to respond.
"I do not believe I have? And I have no death wish."
Gurni snorts.
"Then either hope you're good at surviving, or that I fail my personal task again, this trip."
He stretches his neck till it let's a loud signal of relief.
"We're not going to tool about the mountain side hoping we find a troll. I know where a den is, and we're going right to them in their home."

His fist meets his palm in a quick 'aha!' motion, tail wagging around
"A house razing!"

"Sure. We'll get as far as we can before we set up any camp. Better to sleep in the early morning when close to their dens."
Gurni leads them out to a stable just outside the guild grounds. A cart is already waiting for them. (edited)

Zaz quickly makes his way to the cart to sit in it, as much as he'd like to look at it, the call of the hunt was more important in his brain
He motions over Cati and Gale after he has taken his seat

Cati and Gale hurry and join Zaz.
The cart is off. As they set off at sun down, it's well passed that when they reach the cities edge. A guard checkpoint stops them, and speak to Gurni in dwarven for a brief moment before the cart is let through and they pass the walls, and exit the city on its mountain side.
The mountains look tall and imposing from this close, and they're only in the cart for a short time longer, with it stopping to deposit them right at the start of a hunting trail.
"Let's go. We go as far as the slowest can make it. So don't be the slowest."

As Zazikel gets off the cart, he stretches around a little, he wasnt used to carts so he'd always awkwardly slump while in them, which was hell for his back
A few satisfying crack noises after, he's ready to go

Gale and Cati also move to follow. It was clear Cati was their slowest member. Gale was accustomed to the woods and mountains, Gurni was still moving faster then the next fastest. And Cati.
Cati was finding every stick and hazard of the hunting trail, and kept slowing to admire the sights to see.

The other two seemed competent enough in Zaz's eyes to let them go ahead by themselves, so he slowed down a little to be closer to Cati, making sure to keep an eye on her

Gale proudly responds.
"I had not! They they all were soundly asleep when I entered, and remained so when I took my leave."
Gurni grunts.
"Then I'll be waking them up now."
He then stomps off towards the source of the oder.

As they come up on a cave entrance, Gurni looks around an sniffs loudly.
"This is the place."
He then rolls his shoulder as he takes a deep breath. He lets out a loud shout into the cave, the shouting lasting over a good six seconds. There is a moment of quiet. Then a return roar of the trolls waking up.

The sounds of the trolls rousing begins filling the cavern.
Gale looks a bit concerned, but ready.
Gurni is too far ahead to see his face, but he continues to stump forward.

As they go further, the stench of troll grows stronger. A smell that is a mix of rotting meat and unwashed stank.
The sounds of the trolls speaking in their native tongue can be heard echoing through the cavern from further in.
There is a space ahead where some kind of light can be see. Large shadows can be seen in its glow.

The scent makes Zaz reel his head back in slight disgust for a bit, making a quiet unsatisfied noise
He then shakes his head a little to gather himself again, getting ready for a fight

As they enter a larger part of the cavern, Zazikel can see four large trolls turning to look in the groups direction.
Cati immediately tries to toss a firebolt in the direction of the closest troll, but in her Haste and inexperience, mess her somatic component up, instead making a puff of sulfuric smoke.
"Shit!"
Gurni wastes no further time quickly running to the second closest troll, and begins to hack it with his axe, biting deep wounds that already look to be healing as they're made.
Gale meanwhile, knocks an arrow while she utters a small promise to down her mark, and looses an arrow that snaps on a hard part of the troll's hide.
A quick look tells Zaz he could reach the closest troll before it could have a chance to move any closer to Gale or Cati, and Gurni seemed to be handling himself just fine at the moment.

He rushes over to the troll with a growl of rage, trying to jab at it with his trident, only to miss his hit, cussing a little under his breath in draconic (edited)

The trolls find their footing at the quick assault by the four of them. Three of them start to swarm around Gurni, blocking his from easy view with their large frames.
One turns its attention to Zaz, who tried to stick it.
It swipes at him with a large claw and a roar of hunger and anger.

He takes the hit with a grunt, icy mist escaping the corners of his mouth as he snarls angrily and glares at the troll

Cati gets her spell down, and hits one of the trolls in the back with a firebolt, eliciting a roar of pain from it.
She does a little fist pump in excitement. "YES!"
Gurni uses that opportunity to carve into the troll, whose wounds don't begin closing immediately.
Gale's arrow once again fails to find a meaningful mark, leaving Gurni surrounded and Zaz facing his troll alone.

He betters his grip on his trident before jabbing at the troll again, a pleased rumble escaping his throat as he hits his mark this time
Rapidly Approaching Bear — 11/30/2021
The troll lets out a roar of pain, as Zaz can see the wound starting to heal already.
The troll retaliates by raking Zaz with its claws as it lashes out in pain.
The troll that Cati had blasted with a firebolt turns to her in anger and rushes at her, despite leaving it open for Gurni to strike, and begins to maul her in a brutal way, while the other two continue to assault Gurni

Cati lets out a shout of anger and a line of flames that burns a hole through the troll attacking her, and singes a second.
Gurni takes advantage of the sudden flames, and cuts down the one that was singed, and turns to lay into the only one left that isn't the one by Zaz.
Gale finally gets a hit off, striking the one in front of Zaz.

Zaz pulls his trident out, flipping it around in his hands just to jab it in again, growling louder as more icy mist escapes him

The injuries the troll has suffered have already healed to a point where his original strike is all but gone.
The troll bites at Zaz, and claws him while it circles around to get Cati into its reach, leaving her bleeding and gasping in pain.
Instead of trying to run away, Cati circles around the troll herself, and once in the right position, launches another line of flames that passes just next to Zaz.
Gurni quirky fells the one he was working on, his seared flesh no longer regenerating, and moves to crowed the last one with Zaz.
Gale lands another arrow, and shouts her observation.
"Zazikel! This is the moment! All or nothing while it's wounds cannot heal!"

He angles his trident carefully as he strikes a particularly hard jab, growling out a "fall damn you" as he hits the troll with all his strength

The trident pierces through the chest. The troll slowly goes limp, and falls to the cavern floor.
All of the trolls were now still and quiet as they lay on the ground, relatively whole despite the injuries they had been given just moments prior.
Except the one Gurni chunked.

He lets out a huff as he looks at the now defeated trolls, cleaning off his trident as much as he could at the moment
"Well, that takes care of that.."

Gurni hocks some spit onto one of them, and the starts dragging them all into a pile.
"Let's stack them up, and burn them. It'll keep other trolls away for a time."
(Mischief) Bird??? — 11/30/2021
"Right."
He helps to pile up the trolls, moving over to stand near Cati and Gale once he was done

Cati had taken the time to gather some troll blood and samples of troll flesh, while they piled them.
Once they were all piled, Gurni looks to Cati.
"Burn em. Make sure they catch, too."
Cati smiles with glee. And lauches one last pillar of flame into the trolls. She then creates a magical fire underneath them, letting it catch before she seems satisfied it'll sustain itself.
Burning and burnt troll smelled no better than normal troll.

He brings a hand up to cover his snout as best he could, making a grossed out noise

Gurni holds up a string of troll ears, and points at one.
"This one is your kill. I'll make sure they know so you get the bounty for it."

He nods, tail wagging a little
"Thank you"
He then looks over at Cati and Gale
"You two all fine?"

They get to the spot they'd camped at before quickly and easily enough, and Cati asked if someone can put her bed roll out so she can lay on it.

After a few more notes Zaz begins to doze off, resting his notebook in his lap before closing his eyes to take a nap

"Get up. Hours done. We're heading back now."

She was even able to pack her bedroll up on her own, though she did it sitting down.

The hike back down from the hunting trail takes what feels like less time then it did going up. Which makes some sense, since it's all down hill.
There is not a cart waiting for them at the bottom, however. Gurni addresses this.
"We'll walk back to the gate. If we encounter someone willing to give a ride, you two get first chance at a seat."
He points at Cati and Zaz.

They don't encounter any carts that both have space and are willing to give a lift, but Cati manages to makes it in one piece back to the city gates with their help.
Once there, they're able to grab a cart to take them the rest of the way to the guild hall.
