Tapac Yauri was a golden rod said to have been bestowed upon an ancient emperor by the sun god Inti.

History

Cultural Rite to Rule

The legend goes that the first emperor of the Innoit traveled the land following tapac-yauri to the site of his new capital.   However, the golden staff was only able to show this by sinking into the earth and disappearing forever. Regardless, there have been many recreations throughout the centuries as a legitimizing means;
which gradually evolved into a symbol of the bureaucracy.

Significance

Staff of Office

Though no physical evidence exists of this mythical staff, its story serves as the basis of many ceremonial rods and staffs being designed and adopted as signifiers of bureaucratic authority. Such include:
  • Suntur Páucar: A feather pike used during the crowning of a new king.
  • Topayauri: A scepter with an ax head and pointed knife on either ends.
  • Ceque Wand: A twin set of configurative knots tightly wound around a steel rod.
  • Staff of Tocoyricoc: Custom to the highest imperial bureaucrat.
