(Adventure Day 132)
The party was busy looting an old series of cottages in Southeastern Illinois when they were set upon by a trio of RadCoons. Morag knew of these creatures, and warned that their radioactive and poisonous bites were a serious danger. Lex opened fire, easily dispatching one of the dog-sized critters. The rest of the team joined in, with Andy killing the last of the three with a blow from his pneumatic fist.
But the clever, mutated creatures were not alone. Nine more RadCoons leapt out of the twisted underbrush, charging the party with ferocious speed. Andy, who had rushed forward to punch, got the worst of it. The critters tore at his metal body, taking away chucks of him. Linda started up her Flamer and proceeded to incinerate the wildlife.
Lex and Morag maneuvered away, leaving the others to face the threat while they took previse shots from a distance. Dr. Patch called for Andy to jump away as he threw a grenade into the pack of aberrant mammals. Andy moved and the bomb went off behind him, shredding furry little bodies. A few more pneumatic fists and Flamer blasts and the fight was over.
Morag collected meat and skins from the RadCoons while Patch and Lex worked on Andy. Morag had heard of a rejuvenating stew that could be made of RadCoon meat, but it required carrots and tatos to cook. Without any vegetables available, they packed up and moved on.
The next stop was Moonshine Prison. From the road, they could see some people in plain clothes hanging out lazily on the prison grounds, but could not see any guards. The party stopped and asked someone what was going on, and that person called for Wither. Wither was an enormous human man carrying a pickaxe and wearing a prisoner's jumpsuit. He explained that the Midwest Brotherhood had recently left this area, including the prison. They could talk to the warden, but he was down inside the prison.
It didn't take the detective skills of Herbert "Daring" Dashwood to notice that Wither was luring them into a bad situation. It was likely that the prisoners had taken over this jail and were keeping the warden hostage. If they went down into the prison, they'd probably become hostages themselves.
The party discussed sieging the prison, but decided to leave. The former prisoners looked on contemptuously. Halen the van was started up and driven along the path of the Wabash River to the Baker Farm. It was getting dark, but Ismalia Baker greeted them anyway. She didn't have tatos or carrots, but she sold biodiesel. So, the party filled up.
Ismalia complained that there was trouble in the region. The Frozen Hearts Gang had just walked onto the Bighorner ranch at Red Hills and were squatting there. Nyema and Sameera, the sisters who ran the place, had appealed to the Brotherhood, and were told that nothing could be done unless the gang committed some act of violence. Word was that Nyema had gone to White Squirrel to beg the sheriff there for help. And speaking of White Squirrel, there was a no foolin' gangster operating there. Everyone knew a man named Hahn was running guns and illegal chems to some rich buyer, but no one could catch him.
The party thanked Ismalia for her trade and info. The farmer offered them her barn to sleep in for the night and they took her up on the offer. As they were laying down to rest, Morag noticed something odd about the heel of Beau's buttstock. In the last fight, it had sat uncomfortably against her shoulder. She wondered if his new mods had damaged him in some way. Looking closely, she found the heel clipped off, revealing a small compartment in the stock for keeping gun tools and cleaning supplies. The metal stock within the compartment had been stamped with the word, "MORAG."
Morag was shocked. She had never seen that compartment and had discovered Beau three years ago on a long-decayed corpse in the Hatchie Forrest.
She asked Beau what was going on and he responded, "I don't think I'm allowed to know right now."
Even more confused, Morag asked if Beau was lying to her. He reassured her that he told her everything that he had in his mind, as truthfully as he could. She accepted that for the moment, going back to the barn to sleep without telling the others.

(Adventure Day 133)
The party roused for breakfast and talked about what to do next. Annalynn Whittman asked if it had been wise to leave the prison. The group agreed that prisons were highly defensible, and an assault on such a structure, while keeping hostages safe, was beyond their abilities. But they did agree to check out the ranch at Red Hills.
After a meandering drive through hilly cave country, the reached Nyema and Sameera's ranch. They were able to reconnoiter the whole area, spotting 12 Frozen Heart gangsters intimidating Sameera. The Bighorner livestock were safe in a pen near the house. The party planned an ambush. Lex would snipe from the north and Morag would do the same from the south as the others raced up the east road. The element of surprise was essential, as the gangsters carried flaming Shishkebab swords.
The attack went without a hitch. Lex, hidden in some tall Razorgrain, quickly dropped a gang captain. Morag targeted Leathershade, the gang leader, killing him in seconds. Patch rushed onto the scene, hurling pipe bombs at the shocked gangsters' feet and peppering them with shrapnel. Andy's fist got more practice at smashing human heads. Linda drew Grognak's Axe, the arduously large weapon, and cleaved a gangster in two.
The Frozen Hearts Gang began to realize what was going on, but the party pressed there attack. More shots killed more targets. Patch threw a simple baseball grenade near the Bighorners' pen, causing the animals to charge into a group of three gangsters. The hefty creatures incapacitated the goons with their stampeding horns. They had had enough. The gang surrendered and were allowed to leave if they left their weapons.
Sameera was a bit shocked by the brutality of the attack. The Frozen Hearts Gang had squatted on her land, stolen her food and intimidated her family, but hadn't hurt anyone. The party were unabashed. They asked Sameera if she sold carrots or tatos. And she said she grew carrots, but they were a favourite of the Bighorners. She would sell some in gratitude, but offered no discount on the price.
The party looted the dead gangsters and piled all of the goods into the van. It was another hour's drive to Embarrassed River. Despite the interesting name, it was little more than a series of old vacation properties. They salvaged a few valuable items and then moved on.
Ahead of them was the village of White Squirrel, where it was said a gangster named Hahn and a musical about Robert House could be found...
