Regen Wakerock is the current King Regent of the
Iron Islands, cousin to the Regnant King
Jäger Ironbeard.
Personal History
Regen is a distant cousin of the
Ironbeard Family, rightful rulers of the Ironrock. Distance of blood, however, does not diminish royal obligation. Regen was trained as a soldier from a young age, destined to one day serve as an admiral, blessed by the gifts of
Egar.
At age sixteen, Regen was sent to learn the ways of the storm god. He became a holy warrior, powered by the tempest. He was enlisted as a soldier not long after his eighteenth birthday. He rose through the ranks quickly, and turned the tide of many battles through steel and storm. But his destiny and life’s ambition was taken from him when his elder brother,
Wolke, was killed by cultists of
Dhor.
A young Regen, only twenty-four years old and a newly minted captain well on his way to admiralty, was removed from his military post and relegated to his brother’s political service in the name of the Ironbeards. He was assigned to serve as attaché to the
Storm Giant allies of the Ironbeards, a position of vital import and of no interest to the young, already renowned, holy warrior.
That had been his post since. For two long years Regen had to stay away while his home and family were pillaged from within, and forced to travel with a Storm Giant
ambassador to aid them in their political duties to the
Ordning.
In the line of his duty, Regen found himself imprisoned along with Ordate Zofia in the
fortress of the
Frost Giant usurper Jarl
Grugnor. He was freed by and subsequently joined
Achilla and the Shields, an adventuring party employed by the
Stalic Empire to deal with the Giant re-Ordning.
In the hall of the
Fire Giant King
Snurre, Regen took part in a sixteen-hour long resurrection ritual that succeeded in returning to life Princess Alizeh of the Singing Wood, Devaughn Lightpaw, and Akwele Onokankwu, but which failed to bring back Baui of Clan Kazemaru. He also resurrected Gault Harrow at the request of Princess
Kohinoor Sattari after the party finished their main quest.
Recent Events
Most recently, Regen and Zofia were imprisoned in the Storm Giant city of
Durssundrr upon a failed attempt to infiltrate it. The two were freed by the
Ring & Wren, who were there to liberate the city of Dhor's influence. Regen aided in the battles at Zofia's side, but requested to be let free of his obligation to her afterwards so that he may help the party liberate the Iron Islands as well. This request was granted.
After Durssundrr was freed of Dhor's influence, Regen pledged his services to Jäger. He was sent to infiltrate
Ironrock and send information back to
Felstadt over the course of a week. At the end of the week, the Ring & Wren joined him in the Iron Islands and together they overthrew the deep-touched king,
Roak Ironbeard.
After the battle, Jäger asked Regen to lead the Iron Islands in his stead. Regen accepted. He now seeks to re-build the Island and the numbers of Egar's followers.
