Zayad, The Depraved Character in Farore | World Anvil

Zayad, The Depraved

Depravity incarnate. All mortals of a sane mind fear Zayad. Those who serve him have fallen deep into the the darkness of life. And revel in it.
Gower Dalk, Understanding the Divinities
Zayad is the youngest of all the divines and despite being called The Depraved, he is considered to be handsome by all standards. He is fiercely loyal to the world of Farore, and will do anything to protect it. He believes that the creation of the races of the world was a grave error that doomed the world towards chaos and destruction. Because of this belief, his greatest desire is to rid Farore of the races as he sees them as a pestilence. This is in direct opposition to both Rayna, the Righteous Goddess, and Veeria, the Graceful, and is a reflection of their relationship.

Divine Symbols and Items

Sword of Damning- This sword is said to never have left Zayad's side. Impossible to confirm, there are rumors that should a person die from this sword, their soul is destroyed completely.   Flaming Sword (symbol)- A direct representation of the sword that Zayad carries. This symbol represents both Zayad's desire to rid the world of the races as well as the cleansing fire he believes he is.

Domains

It is unknown how many people follow Zayad and share in his belief of the total eradication of the races. However, what is known is that many of the demons that make their home in the north are under his control. Their mere presence in the world brings forth a corrupting blight, as those living in Calcurnam can attest. Zayad agents roam the world and appeal to the humanoid condition of self-interest in attempt to debase their souls.

Special Days

Call of the Vendetta- This day is dedicated to Zayad on the fifteenth of his month. On this day, Zayad's power is at all time high. No one celebrates this day throughout the world. Those who live in the north and protect the races of Farore from Zayad know this day as Dread Day since this day, the demons under Zayad attack with a ferocity they do not have the rest of the year.

Holy Locations

Citadel of Depravity- Across the Black Channel, the people of the Free States of Farore can see Zayad's Citadel towering. No person who has attempted to gain access to the citadel has ever reportedly been seen again.

Prophecies

I see a fire rising up. It’s flame purifies all that it touches. It comes towards us. It comes to protect the land from the disease of civilization. I see its power. I feel it’s conviction in our necessary destruction. Fall, my brothers and sisters, do not despair in our death! Let us throw down our lives for the world’s protection!
