Rayna, the Righteous Goddess Character in Farore | World Anvil

Rayna, the Righteous Goddess

The Righteous Goddess is one to be feared. Above all, she strives for justice and order in this world. Should anyone break the laws in her presence, she will smite them without hesitation.
Gower Dalk, Understanding the Divinities
Rayna is the second youngest of the major gods, but one of the most well known and liked by many. Most notably, she harbors a resentment towards her younger brother Zayad, The Depraved, for his desire to wipe out the peoples of Farore. It is said that when she looks for a champion (note: this is not the same as a paladin), she is able to peer into their hearts and see each and every sin they have committed. Should she find them wanting, she withdraws any blessing that she might have bestowed.

Divine Symbols and Items

Armor of the Righteous- this legendary piece of armor is said to have worn by Rayna since the dawn of time. Nothing is known about this piece of armor or where it is located but it is said that whoever wears it has the blessings of Rayna herself.   Torch (symbol)- the torch has often been the main symbol of Rayna as she fights to illuminate the injustices in the world and lead the people towards what she would consider the "light."

Domains

Rayna's followers strive to fight against those who would break the natural order of the world or commit injustice to others. Although Rayna is not the goddess of death, it is often her followers who tend graveyards as they are committed to keeping the dead that way- dead. Her followers often try to practice being sinless since is believed that Rayna abhors all forms of vices.

Special Days

Day of Good Deeds- This day is dedicated to Rayna on the fifteenth of her month. On this day, Rayna's power is at all time high. People of the world celebrate by being honorable and kind to one another. Families and friends will often hold a session of cleansing, where each member will confess their sins, real or imagined, and ask for forgiveness from each other.

Known Rituals

Rite of Passing- This ritual involves a rare flower that is said to only be able to grow if Rayna herself planted it. A follower of Rayna who performs this ritual over a graveyard or deceased body causes the bodies to be resistant to all forms of necromancy.

Oaths

To those who would do harm to others unjustly, beware. For I stand to bring justice. To those who would sow chaos in this world, beware. For I stand to keep the order. No matter where you may be those who would be my enemies, know that my light shines bright and we will do battle. Here and for all time, I pledge myself to Rayna, the Righteous.
