Veeria, the Graceful Character in Farore | World Anvil

Veeria, the Graceful

Veeria. Her grace knows no bounds. It is she who stands at the barrier of a person's first breath and in that moment, they say she whispers a great secret to our souls.
Gower Dalk, Understanding the Divinities
Veeria is the second eldest of the divinities. Although it was the Builder who created the many races of Farore, he charged Veeria with shepherding their souls and all life in the world. As such, she is often depicted in artwork as a loving mother who welcomes all into her arms. Although she abhors death, she understands that it is part of life and often tries to ease the suffering of those as they pass into the great beyond.

Divine Symbols and Items

Helm of Benevolence- The helm that Veeria was granted by the Builder as a show of her dominion in the world. This item is said to appear to the one in the world who most embodies Veeria. However, this has never been confirmed.   Wreath (symbol)- The wreath of Veeria represents her blessing of life on the land and her unending commitment to helping the races. When a person takes the Oath of Tenderness and Veeria accepts them, a laurel wreath will appear on their head.

Domains

The people who follow Veeria are expert healers. They can often be found in the slums of any city or town, helping those in need by providing food, water, or medicine. The followers also believe in life above all. As such, part of their pledge to Veeria is to never purposely kill a single soul, ranging from a humanoid to a simple bug. However, like Veeria, they understand that death is part of the natural flow of the world. Veeria's priests are often summoned to a person's deathbed to conduct the final rites.

Special Days

Harvest Bounty- This day is dedicated to Veeria on the fifteenth of her month. On this day, Veeria's power is at all time high. This celebration usually consists of an entire town coming together and feasting together for the entire day. Often, there are games and plays put on. In cities, the government will often pay for the feast and allow the entire population to celebrate. Because of the merriment, children often count the days until the next Harvest Bounty.

Holy Locations

Pale Forest- Many believe that the unconquered territory of the Pale Forest is the land which Veeria makes her home. The life there is abundant and there is a belief that any person may walk through the forest without concern as long as they have no ill intention in their heart nor take the life of any creature they come across.

Oaths

Oh Veeria, grant unto me your unending compassion and desire to help those around me. Let me never take another life willingly, nor walk by someone in need without offering my aid. Let me understand that death is part of life and not carry guilt over those I fail to save. However, always impress upon me that I must strive to fulfill your great command to my best ability. With your blessing, I pledge myself to you, Veeria.
