Bryndffolk People (BRIND-folk)
The Bryndffolk are a human people who live among the Kælic Highlands, Kymric Mountains and the Kharian Basin. As a species, the Bryndffolk are born with characteristics of the elements. These characteristics are used commonly as social distinctions within Bryndffolk culture, more so than their gender expression.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Bryndfolk are a humanoid people, between 168 cm (5' 8") and 178 cm (5' 10") on average, dependant on their elemental sub-species. Their weight depends mostly on their elemental physiology, Karrak Brynd tend to be denser, and thus weigh more than Ganigen Brynd.
Genetics and Reproduction
Bryndffolk have two sexes. Male and Female, and reproduce sexually. There is a dimorphism between the sexes that is consistent with humanity in general. A pregnant Bryndffolk will carry to term in roughly 40 weeks. There is no known or understood biological elemental component to reproduction. That is, two Bryndffolk with the same elemental physiology, like two Karrak, or two Tonna, are not guaranteed to give birth to a child that has the same physiology.
Growth Rate & Stages
Bryndffolk proceed through human life-stages, with slight variations due to their element. Fflam Brynd tend to have a shorter life-expectancy than Tonna Brynd. Bryndffolk reach puberty between 12 and 14 years, adulthood between 17 and 20 years, and senority between 60 and 65 years.
Ecology and Habitats
Bryndffolk are a very adaptive people, and can thrive in a broad range of climates. They build shelter to endure the elements, herd and farm to maintain a ready supply of food and gather in loose communities. Outside of the regions of Fahr Ryasc north of the Marakhor Sea, Bryndffolk can be found living in small numbers anywhere that civilization rises.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Bryndffolk are omnivorous and cultivate food through agriculture. They have adapted their farming techniques to the environment where they live. Bryndffolk prefer to consume their food cooked for the most part, but they are able to eat their food raw when need be.
Biological Cycle
Bryndffolk pass through the familiar stages of life. Growing from infancy, through adolescence into adulthood, and into elders through their roughly 80 years of life. These stages and overall life span vary slightly depending on their elemental heritage.
