Tonna Bryndffolk (TON-nah)

Tonna Brynd are quietly powerful, wise and persistent. They are, among the Bryndffolk, intellectuals, and seemingly dispassionate, but like the element that has touched them, the calm exterior of the Tonna Brynd can conceal a raging tempest, just below the surface.

Biological Traits

Tonna Brynd are stronger than the average Bryndffolk, though not as strong on average as the Karrak. They are most graceful and dextrous, much like the element they are born into. The Tonna also have the capability to function underwater without drowning twice as long and at twice the depth that other Bryndffolk are able to.

Social Structure

Among the Kharian Brynd, the Tonna are priviliged, their aptitude with water complimenting the environment of the Kharian Basin. Thus, the traditions and privileges practiced among the Kharian Brynd favor the Tonna.

Among the Kymric Brynd, the Tonna are often encouraged to be the artists and performers in their communities. Tonna are storytellers, and ease the otherwise rigid and inflexible Kymru in adapting to changing times.

Among the Kælic Brynd, the Tonna are marginalized and discriminated against. Their association with the Kharian Brynd and the sorcery associated with the Kharian Basin mark the Tonna as being potentially dangerous to the social order of the Kælic.

Facial characteristics

Tonna Brynd display smooth and gentle features. Facial hair on men is rare. The Tonna have large, expressive eyes, a broad nose, and soft, pouty lips. Their ears are flared and subtley serrated. Tonna fingers and toes are distinctively webbed.

  • When moving through any surface that would leave a wake like water, snow, mud, etc the Tonna Bryndffolk leave no such disturbance. When in such terrain, Tonna Bryndffolk have a +20% bonus to Stealth rolls.
  • Tonna Bryndffolk do not suffer penalties for maneuver or combat actions when in water.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Tonna Brynd have skin tones which vary between blue and green from nearly white to almost black. Their eyes are mostly blue-black in color, though some individuals have a brighter eyes of turquoise and green. Tonna hair ranges through the same hues as their skin, often being a complimentary hue and shade.

Major Abilities

  • Tonna Bryndffolk know the Fog Cloud spell and can cast it at a level up to the caster's maximum spell level allowed without spending any Hit Dice once per Long Rest. If the character does not blong to a spellcasting class, the must select a Spellcasting Ability Score from Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma.
  • Masked Path
  • When moving through terrain where water is a component of creating tracks like mud or snow, or leaves a wake, Tonna Bryndffolk leave no such trail. Also, for a number of times equal to their Proficiency Bonus, the Tonna Bryndffolk can have Advantage on DEX (Stealth) ability checks in wet terrain for up to an hour. This ability refreshes following a Long Rest.

  • Tonna Bryndffolk pass through difficult terrain caused by water, mud, snow, ice or similar conditions without expending extra movement if using walking speed in contact with the ground or floor.
