A Bit of History

The royals in Faetalia have been a constant for almost as long as the island has existed. As fairykind evolved, royals emerged- those said to be born directly from the Original Fairies. Being from such a powerful lineage, they were revered by all, their mere presence commanding deep respect from all around them.   The royals held power and authority over all the fairies and their land. They were responsible for overseeing and controlling every aspect of the fairies' lives, from their daily routines to the major decisions that affected their entire community. They had a great influence on the fairies, and their leadership was unquestioned.   Their rule, however, was not always harmonious. They would often resort to extreme measures to ensure the prosperity and stability of their kingdoms, even if it meant going against the will of the fairies. This would often result in the elements of nature clashing with each other, causing chaos and destruction throughout the land.   In such times of turmoil, alliances had to be formed between the elemental leaders to combat the resulting conflicts and bring back peace. The struggle continued for many years until, at last, the leaders were able to overcome their differences and forge strong bonds of trust and cooperation. Thus ending the years of conflict that had ravaged the realm and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity.   As a peaceful atmosphere settled over the land, the relevance of the royals diminished in the face of growing communal power. Over time, the Original Fairies gradually lost their prominence in the minds of the public, resulting in a significant decline in the authority wielded by the royals.   Despite still holding their royal status, the modern-day royals have become more of a symbolic figurehead than actual rulers. They occupy the highest position in the hierarchy solely to carry the title and maintain the luxurious lifestyle that comes with it. They continue to actively support and advocate for the fairies they preside over, each in their own little ways, ensuring that everyone is well taken care of and living happily.
