Farosia

Farosia is the Capitol of Vorheim, a medium sized town on the northwest coast of the island that was founded many years ago by a group of elves seeking a fresh start. The town has grown considerably since its inception and now is host to an adventuring hub with a bounty of travelling merchants, adventurers, and tourists coming to see the island.   The town embraced this new culture which sparked the rapid development of interesting shops and services and a robust military to defend against those who would wish to seize the island for themselves or harm its citizens.

Demographics

Farosia is home to a large diversity of races and people due to its more recent status as a destination for adventuring.

Government

Farosia is run by a council aptly named The Council of Farosia. It consists of a military leader, archmage, treasurer, master of guilds, and master of port. The council is very practical and all council members are elected leaders of their sectors.
  • The current highest ranking officer is typically named as the military member
  • The archmage is the most proficient and elected mage in the town
  • The treasurer is elected by other council members as a trusted member of society and is tasked with handling the finances of the city.
  • The master of guilds is elected as a representative from all of the craftsmen and merchants in the town to speak on their behalf.
  • The master of port is typically also the dockmaster at the docks. He is in charge of informing the council of significant visitors and speaking to the needs of ships if any political involvement is needed.

Defences

The Walls - Farosia has made improvements over the years to its outer defenses ever since there was an attack on the small town several years prior. The outer walls surround the main city, its districts, and any important buildings. There are settlements and small farms right outside the walls as well.   There are 5 towers along the walls. Two along the eastern wall, guarding the gate and the back of The Council Chambers, two at the southern gate, the towns busiest gate as it leads to the path to Southport and The Divide, and then 1 along the western wall. There is very little to protect from the west and the tower is often unmanned.   The Lighthouse - Farosia also has a tall elvish looking lighthouse perched on the cliff overlooking the docks and the surrounding ocean. The lighthouse is always stationed and is used as both a lookout tower to spot any potential invaders or nefarious ships as well as a way for ships to find port on stormy nights.

Districts

The Town Square - A hub for merchants, especially those only passing through or coming to sell wares for a few weeks. The square has many stalls available to rent and a large elven fountain in the center where people gather and bards sing songs of adventure. The square is also home to the main entrance of the Farosia Barracks and military area as well as The Dragon's Tankard.   Capitol Square - A much smaller and less trafficked square on the southern side of the city. This square is directly in front of The Council Chambers and right next to The Archmage's Tower. Members of the council and scholars can be seen sitting around the square as it is built up as a shaded tranquil garden in an elven style.   The Farosian Docks - One of the most important districts in the city, under constant construction to increase its capacity, the docks are the main way in and out of the city for travelers, merchants, and adventurers. It is home to a large dockhouse which is available to the public to store ship equipment and to charter ships, as well as The Dock of Many Flings.
