Demon Species in Eyila | World Anvil

Demon

Demons are the spawn of the Blight. They are the few Vir and humans who survived the curse and didn't recover fully. Their brains were severely damaged and their bodies were twisted into horribly scarred forms. Some animals also became demons, though it's nearly impossible to tell what creature a demon used to be.   The most reliable way to kill a demon is by decapitation. The body should then be burnt, for good measure. It should also be noted that demons are weaker the further away from the Blight they are. This is why they tend to keep away from settlements and aren't seen as much in places where the land has healed from the curse.   Those who hunt demons are called daers.   Recently, it has been discovered that the blackened, cursed blood of demons actually has remarkable healing properties when boiled and then consumed. It's become a rare, highly sought-after item by doctors. However, the blood, when prepared improperly or consumed cold, can cause Blight-like symptoms, including death. It has been speculated that the blood of Sightless Ones may have this property as well, though no one has dared to check.

Physical

Demons move on four limbs, regardless of whether they used to be bipeds or not. They are hairless, with black, cracked skin and no eyes. They bleed black blood and are known to vomit up whatever they've just devoured. Some have bones sticking out, or open wounds from previous encounters, exposing their innards.   Due to the lack of eyes, demons are blind. Therefore, they have extraordinary senses of smell and hearing. By all accounts, they appear not to feel pain. They are constantly hungry, devouring anything they can get their claws on.
