Aritan Empire
The Aritan Empire is an imperial dictatorship with a large multicultural citizenship. The Empire controls most of the settlements within the region of the Umfula Plains, Soliemia.
The Aritan Empire is a militaristic society, valuing militaristic achievement and combat prowise above all else. Their society is structured with those in high ranking positions of the military located at the top of the social ladder.
All citizens of the Empire are required to undergo military service once they reach adulthood, with the entire population being a standing army.
The Empire is famed for their deadly cavalry, the Red Riders, making horses a very valuable resource as well as a symbol of status.
The Aritan Empire is also well known for its large population of slaves, with a majority of the citizens owning a slave. These slaves make up a large portion of the Empire’s workforce and the threat of slavery, along with violence for the military, keep the people in check.
The Aritan Empire has a poor relationship with the neighbouring settlements who disapprove of their war mongering ways. After conquering all the settlements in the Umfula Plains the Aritan Empire has entered a time of peace, but many anticipate that it won’t last for long.

Slaves consist of a mixture of debt-slavery, those who have been punished for crime, prisoners of war and children born to slaves.
Slaves are all paid a small salary, and are able to buy themselves out of slavery, but a majority of them do not. This is either because they can’t afford freedom in their lifetime, from having to pay their master for lodging, food and equipment, or because they don’t have any prospects outside of slavery.

The Aritan Empire is ruled by a reigning monarch and assisted by a council of military generals. The monarch rules until death with the throne passing to the monarch's chosen heir, usually their oldest child. Settlements under the control of the Aritan Empire are governed by Consuls and appointed to their position by the monarch. Consuls are high ranking military officials that also lead one of the Empire’s legions.Military & Local Guard:
The Aritan Empire is protected by a vast military force that is split into multiple legions spread across the Empire. Every settlement in the Empire houses a garrison of soldiers under the command of the Consul, with the majority of soldiers located at the capital. Also located at the Capital are the Red Riders, an elite cavalry that is exclusively commanded by the monarch.Religion:
The Aritan Empire doesn't have an official policy of religious freedom, but does not seem to discriminate against worship of any deity. The official religion of the Aritan Empire is the worship of Ares, the God of War. The Empire also honours Athena, the God of Warfare, and the sons of Ares, Deimos & Phobos. All settlements in the Empire are also expected to have a temple or shrine to Ares.Social Hierarchy:
The Aritan Empire has a unique monarchal class system that is primarily structured around military service, with high society consisting of a strong military class. Royal Class: The highest social class in the empire, consisting of anyone with true royal blood. Military Class: The military class consists of high ranking members of the military, such as Generals and Consuls, It also consists of career soldiers and veterans. Reserve Class: The reserve class consists of individuals who have completed 5 years of military service and are expected to be called upon during wartime. Meritless Class: This class consists of individuals who have not completed their military service or individuals who have been rejected from military service. Adults in this class are treated as second class citizens and usually occupy the lowest possible roles in society. A majority of them will sell themselves into slavery to survive. Slave Class: The lowest social class in the empire, consisting of slaves. Slaves lack rights, can not own property and are not considered citizens. They are common for most families owning one to two slaves. Slaves are considered part of the family that owns them, on the level of pets. Legal System & Laws:
All crimes are brought before a Consul who then judges the accused, sometimes using evidence provided. Most crimes lead to public execution, amputation or slavery. Crimes against the monarch or military personnel are taken very seriously. Common Laws Against: Theft, Trespassing, Tax Avoidance, Property Damage, Kidnapping, Assault, Murder, Treason. Unique Laws Against: Slave Rights, Questioning Authority, Defecting, Avoiding Military Service. Alcohol & Drugs: There are no laws around alcohol or drugs.
