Aritao

The largest city in the Umfula Plains and the Capital of the Aritan Empire, the location of the primary palace of the Aritan Imperial family. It is a large and heavily fortified city housing more soldiers than civilians.

Government: 

The city is governed by the reigning monarch of the Aritan Empire as well as the Black General of its armies.

Defence:

Aritao is defended by a massive military force whose main garrison is located within the city. Aritao also houses the Red Riders, an elite cavalry and military force that is exclusively commanded by the monarch.

Commerce: 

Aritao primarily produces military weapons and armour, and it is famed for the excellent horses bred there. Aritao also has a lot of farmland for cultivating food. Due to the city being the capital of the Aritan Empire most of the produce produced by the cities within the Empire is shipped to the capital making it a luxurious location for trade. Most of Aritao’s workforce consists of slaves.

Geography: 

Aritao is built near the Aritao River, it is completely built within a large, spiked, circular wall mounted with multiple battlements lining its walls. The land outside the walls is dotted with farmland and fields for grazing animals, especially horses. Within the walls the city is split into two distinct sections, the Outer City and the Inner City. The Inner City is located at the centre of Aritao and separated from the Outer City by another large wall.

The Outer City: 

Within the city's outer walls is the largest part of Aritao, multiple ramshackled buildings, taverns and trading stations built around the central road that circles the whole Outer City.

The Inner City: 

At the centre of Aritao, within the inner walls, is the location of the Royal Palace as well as the military barracks. The Inner City is a place of luxury and wealth, it is the location of all the important buildings and amenities of the city, such as the treasury and the armoury. Only a select few are allowed entry into the Inner City, specifically military personnel and members of the royal retinue.
