Lord Surian

Background and Role in Our Story

Lord Surian is a well respected member of the Bylghast clan from Ignasia that has a prominent political role in dragonborn society. Renowned for his Machiavellian politics and cunning, he was sent by Archon Chnodax to Thrantium in 683VD to counter the political machinations of the Paleran embassy. Like most Ignasians, Surian is of the persuasion that human involvement in the war in Draconia will only result in humans manipulating and letting down the dragonborn, as they have done in the past.
He came to loggerheads with Legate Biri, the Paleran ambassador, frequently while in the city. However, he knew that his nephew Hethress would become a member of the Mage's guild of Viseria, as he would make sure of it, and that he had a greater relationship with the city council. Therefore, the Ignasian cause was more likely to succeed.
This was before the meddling of the bonk squad, who prevented his deal for magical weapons with the Four Fingers and single-handedly raised the Paleran embassy from irrelevance to prominence. His nephew continued his progress through the admissions, as planned but Lord Surian began to wonder if he'd miscalculated in dealing with the Four Fingers to further his cause. At the Count's ball, Jackob overheard Lord Surian arguing with a shady figure, saying that he was regretting their deal and although they'd helped his nephew with the tests, got rid of Legate Biri for him and tried to get him magical weapons, he had enough evidence to put them away and would back out if people got hurt.
Lord Surian remained a questionable figure, his ties to the Four Fingers uncertain.
After the fey siege-stone attack on Thrantium and the death of his nephew Hethress, Lord Surian mysteriously disappeared from the city. Perhaps unwittingly, his dealings with the fey enchanted Four Fingers had led to the destructive assault on the city. He remains at large.

Appearance

Lord Surian is a tall bronze dragonborn, with fleckles of copper green across his scales. He has calculating eyes and a stern, particular expression on his face.

Likes and Dislikes

Lord Surian is very fond of his nephew, Hethress. He likes fine wine, chess and getting his way via his intelligence. Lord Surian will always do what he feels is best for Draconia.
Lord Surian dislikes being away from Ignasia for long periods of time, though it's necessary sometimes. He also is not one for needless violence.

Personality quirks

Lord Surian has a dry sense of humour that is not often seen. He enjoys taking his time in a conversation to observe others before he replies.
