Arbraith
Origins of Arbraith
The town of Arbraith sits on the edge of the Thrantium forest, to the North of the city. Founded in time immemorial, modern historians of the guild and the University of Amonir, believe that it was a small settlement for people to live off of the forest. Moreover, in the times of the dragon wars, the cave system within the Arbron mountain has been found (from archaeological discoveries) to have been used as a source of shelter and protection from the dragons, much like those used by the Haemustin Dwarf civilisation to the North. The accepted rough date for the original founding of the settlement is put at c. 783AVD, though the name of the settlement and mountain at this time is not known. In 24VD, a Dwarf by the name of Arbron, who had failed to get into the mage's school that Thrantos had established, came to the settlement. Before beginning his journey northward, he decided to examine the nearby mountain. He discovered that the mountain was rich in metal, as well as gems; perfect for enchanting work. As a result, he quickly enlisted the help of the local peoples to set up mining operations inside the mountain. Soon, Abron had become one of the wealthiest men in the area, amassing a vast fortune by the end of his life. Arbron had no biological children of which to speak, but decided to adopt a young girl whom he found living on the street, named Julia. Arbron admired Julia for her cunning and bravery. He therefore decided to adopt her as his own daughter and instruct her in the skills of mining. When Arbron died, there was a great period of mourning within the town. The unanimous decision, put forward by Julia Arbron, was to name both the mountain and the town in his honour. The Arbron line has run the mine ever since and after the Viserian Civil War, there was no question as to who would receive the jurisdiction and title of the holding.Buildings of Note
Arbraith Hall is the central structure of the pragmatically built town. Consisting of a long audience hall, built to reflect Dwarvish architecture, it was designed to hold the entire populace of the town when it was constructed in 265VD, for festivals and celebrations. The anterior wing was added roughly 20 years later to house the Arbron family. The Temple of Moradin is a small stone construction, sturdy in nature. It is often commented upon for its wonderful juxtaposition of simplistic architecture and magnificent metal work inside. Unusual as a feature for the predominantly human kingdom of Viseria, it harks back to the roots of Arbraith's history. Smithies are numerous within the town, as are jewel cutters. The Hammer of Fire is the main tavern of the settlement, renowned across the county of Thrantium for its homebrewed spirit: Arbraith firewhiskey.Current Holding
