The Guilded Truce
The Guilded Truce is a Living Document made of stained glass. It outlines all the agreements between the signatory guilds and nation states that allow Guilds to function outside of the jurisdiction of governments. While the Truce itself is tens of thousands of years old, most modern signatories are less than two thousand years old.
Purpose
The Truce, as it is usually called, exists to establish the right of the Guilds to work unhindered across the continent. It established Guilds and their members as noncombatants, standardized prices and currency, and gave Guilds the right to send agents across borders at will.
Historical Details
Background
The Truce was established over a conflict between the Circle of Good Faith and the long-dead nation of Annyin Tog. The Speriyi insisted that Circle members living in Annyin Tog were subject to a military levy. The Circle of Good Faith and the merchant's guild now known as The Gold Standard worked together to establish The Truce.
Legacy
The Truce introduced standardized prices and currency, not to mention a common language to the continent.
