The Tower of the Ancients
The Tower of the Ancients is the only adventurer's guild of Illiria. It's members are hired to explore ancient (and otherwise forbidden) ruins, uncover ancient mysteries, capture dangerous monsters, and pretty much anything else that doesn't conflict with the operations of other signatories of the Guilded Truce.
Structure
The Tower is led by the Adventure Lead, who alone has the power to give orders to any member of the Guild and represent the Guild in any official meeting of the Truce. Beneath them are the Venture Captains, who oversee all Guild chapters in their assigned regions. Venture Captains are elected by the Questmasters of each Guild Lodge in that region. The Questmasters assign difficulty ranks to quests, approve new members, keep track of the movements of adventuring parties, and see to the general management of their Lodge. Individual members are organized into Adventuring Parties, who as a unit are given an increasing rank as they "level up", or complete jobs on behalf of the Guild. Lower-ranking adventurers often heed the advice of the higher-levels, but are under no obligation to actually follow orders from them.
Culture
Adventurers are often depicted as unhinged, powerful people that disrupt calm life wherever they go. To an extent, that isn't entirely wrong. A majority of Guild members spend most of their time (and money) in their own Lodges, and the general public only sees them when they are actively questing, and as such likely to run into disruptive and violent problems such as monsters. Adventurers typically maintain a healthy respect for other "guildies", but still view themselves as superior. There is a certain comraderie of the Guild, their bonds and protectiveness are so strong that government officials are sometimes reluctant to say anything to problematic members at the risk of provoking their fellows.
Public Agenda
The Guild's policies are very publicly stated. Their primary goal is to explore all unknowns, and work tirelessly towards that end, often funding projects themselves when no backers can be found.
