The Wanderer

Aiynar Bell Seulin

"A miserable wretch, if ever I met one.... Well of course I am him, how do you think I know?"   -The Wanderer

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

The Wanderer is healthy and fit, but the centuries are beginning to catch up with him. He looks a bit like a human approaching middle age might.

Body Features

His skin tone is tanner than that of most Elves on Eeverfall. His hair is a pure snow white, but not in the almost brittle way common to the very old.

Facial Features

The features of his face are elven slim, but there is a strength to his features. Like a well forged axe, his face is sharp, with a solidly blunt strength behind it.

Identifying Characteristics

He is completely ambidextrous, but he usually pretends one of his hands is dominant, often incorporating this into disguises.

Physical quirks

There is a bounce to his purposeful stride. All his movements feel like weight doesn't quite effect him the same way, as though he is dancing a ballet.

Special abilities

Though he rarely uses more than the simplest of magics, The Wanderer is said to be an immensely powerful mage. He is also exceptionally good at avoiding strikes that others attempt to make against him.

Apparel & Accessories

He wears sleek and simple cloths, usually in tones of white grey and black, with a splash of color, like a tie, scarf, or pair of gloves. He is almost never seen in the same outfit twice, unless it is part of his current disguise.

Specialized Equipment

He has a number of magical items and artifacts secreted about his person. Most are benign or deffensive. One notable exceptin to this is a short blade of a strange design, too small to be a sword, and too long to be a dagger. This sentient weapon is known simply as Keen Edge⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

The people of Everfall know very little of the history of the man known as the wanderer. Some say he is from another world. Others think that he came among the scholars, but was cast from among them before they ascended from among the people of Everfall.

Gender Identity

Male

Education

The Wanderer is thought to have lived through all of Everfall's history. He speaks about the great heroes, and monolithic figures of old as though he knew them well. Often, he speaks as though he was on a first name basis with them. He also casually speaks about ancient truths about the nature of magic, and the universe. He knows much that has been lost.

Employment

The Wanderer has held and abandoned hundreds of jobs. It is not uncommon for him to wander into a small town in disguise, and work a trade for a couple months, before mysteriously vanishing. It is rare these days for him to learn a new trad, if for no other reason than he already knows most trades plied on Everfall.

Accomplishments & Achievements

As a character of folklore, The Wanderer is said to have outsmarted dragons, bested monsters, beaten treacherous Ancillaries⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ in a battle of whits. In one story he sings a song so evocative that it makes the beholder dream its greatest fear into existence to destroy it. In legend, The Wanderer is a trickster, always able to best any problem, generally without even having to turn to violence.

Failures & Embarrassments

There are few stories of The Wanderer failing, but there are a few. It is said that he saw The Great Betrayal⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ coming, but was not allowed to prevent it. It is said that he wanted to stop The Fall of The First City⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣, but that tragedy was too much for even him.

Mental Trauma

The Wanderer is old. He has know thousands and thousands of good people that are now dead. It has been long since he has been really close to anyone. There's always somewhere else for him to be, another rode to travel. He says he is running too somewhere, not away, but when he says this, he does so with a profound sadness in his silver eyes.

Intellectual Characteristics

Clever of whit, sharp tongued. His memory is impeccable. He is a melancholy man, but he takes a profoundly sad sort of glib amusement from confusing and confounding people. He will bring up peoples ancestors if he ever met them, and for most people, he did.

Morality & Philosophy

"Time comes for us all, but I'm not ready for it to claim me just yet."

Taboos

There is little The Wanderer can't abide, but he seems to have a special loathing for tyrants.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

His motivations are unclear. He is very unpredictable, but consistent at the same time. He is at times heartbreakingly emphatic, and ruthlessly pragmatic at others.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Given enough centuries, one can get very good at quite a lot of things. And yet, somehow an ancient man known as a master manipulator is horrible at strategy based games, dispite claiming to have played against the man who invented dragonchess. He claims that all those rules are too restrictive.

Likes & Dislikes

Though there is little left he truly dislikes, so too is there little he truly enjoys anymore. He says he loves sunsets... whatever those are.

Virtues & Personality perks

Patient, kind, clever, calm, empathetic, and principled.

Vices & Personality flaws

Obnoxious, vague, pragmatic, aloof, and stubborn.

Hygiene

Varies... wildly.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Far to many to ever list... and probably a similar number of enemies.

Family Ties

Long gone....

Religious Views

General scorn

Social Aptitude

Generally compliant. Though he doesn't necessarily have a "silver tong," his utter force of personality, and the weight of ages gives great weight to what he says.

Mannerisms

He regularly makes strange hand gestures which are much like ones which are familiar, but off... just a little.

Hobbies & Pets

The Wanderer knows many trades. He is an expert artisan, craftsman, and smith. He doesn't need the money, but he enjoys searching for new things to learn. He makes a hobby of hobbies.

Speech

His voice is profoundly sad, but making light. His speech is slow, but never ponderous, merely careful. He is capable of adopting most modern regional dialects and accents, but sometimes he slips into an unfamiliar accent, laden with archaic terms.

Wealth & Financial state

A few coins... sometimes.
