The Drifters

Structure

If The Drifters can be said to have any kind of structure at all, it is a lose one. Members of the order generally address each other as brother or sister, and rarely give or take orders. When hierarchy is needed, it is created, and lasts only as long as is necessary.

Public Agenda

The Drifters say that they set out to create good in the world by small acts of kindness and empathy. They are said never to compromise for any greater good, or leave anyone in need if they have the power to help.

Assets

The Drifters have very little in the way of possessions, or any material assets. Most carry all they have with them as they travel from place to place.

History

The Drifters have been around for roughly 250 years. Very little of their history or creed is written down, and so much of it is not known outside of their ranks.

Mythology & Lore

The drifters believe The Wanderer, one of the scholars who renounces his divinity. All the folk tails of The Wanderer's exploits form the basis of their mythology. They recognize that many of these stories are false, but to them, this isn't necessarily a negative. It illustrates the fundamental power of belief and faith over reality.

Divine Origins

The drifters don't have any specific origin. There are stories of the first drifters who were merely people that followed the example of The Wanderer, traveling and trying to do good in the world. As the story goes, one day two of the people devoted to the ideal of The Wanderer stumbled across one another entirely by accident, and that was the birth of the drifters.

Cosmological Views

The drifters have a less formal belief in the concept of the divine. They think that the divine is something attainable by mortals. It is something to work towards but not in the sense of an unreachable ideal. Mortals can become divine.

Tenets of Faith

Drifters must care little for worldly possessions, though they aren't barred from having any. They must travel to find where they are most needed, and they must do good when and where ever they are able.

Ethics

The drifters have no formal code of ethics, but each is expected to act based on what they feel is right. They must do what they feel is the right thing, even if it is much harder, or if it effects them negatively.

Worship

Warship of The Wanderer focuses on experience. The drifters travel and believe that good deeds they do in their travel are acts of devotion and warship.

Granted Divine Powers

The divine magic granted to the drifters is considerably less powerful than that granted to other sects in Everfall. Because they strive for individual power and enlightenment, they have no qualms about supplementing their divine power with enchanted artifacts, arcane magics, and even Grey Magic.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Little to none.

Sects

Because the drifters work almost completely independently of one another each warships in their own way. In that light, ether each drifter represents their own sect, or there is only one extremely irregular sect.
