Undines

Undines (singular: Undine) were created by the goddess Taana, who lived on the Elemental plane of Water since the beginning of Evera. Taana populated the elemental plane, then the Blackwater ocean, the seas, and the waters of the lands with plants and animals. Later, she created the Undines, to look after and protect her creatures. Undines are humanoid beings of average height, intelligent and civilized. From the waist up, they resemble Elves, but instead of legs, they have longer, muscular fish tails. Another noticeable difference is the gill openings at the height of the shoulder blades, which allow them to breathe underwater. The color of their hair is dark, blue, green or black, and the color of their skin plays in different shades of blue. Their eyes are gold or black in color, but there are blue-eyed people who are usually assigned a special fate, a leader, a shaman or another prominent position from birth. The Undines live in tribes, their settlements are located on the seabed. In general, they settle near natural resources, e.g. coral reefs. Each tribe has a unique totem animal and is led by the oldest shaman, who can be male or female. The members of the different tribes do not always treat each other with kindness, different leadership or thinking sometimes leads to bloody wars, which the people living on the surface usually know nothing about.
