"It's a funny story, really." Zaffir replies "After the last time I left Br'rva Gishani, my folks got a nice, hefty contract to be part of a settlement/trailblazing team. Now, normally, they'd be all set to drag my happy lil' self along for the ride, but as they were doing negotiations it came out that the first team had been eaten by the local wildlife and it put a quick quash on that.
I spent a couple of years getting bounced around various aunties and uncles before getting parked as the playmate/bodyguard of Korgin in a weird series of deals I'm still trying to unravel. Mineral rights, a couple of cruisers, a hefty amount of money and if I'm remembering right, a large amount of ladders was also involved. Multi-faceted trade agreements are bizarre. It wasn't a bad arrangement though; getting to slum it in a syndie office network definitely had its perks. Having to learn syndie lingo and what in the name of hell a TPS report is." he says wistfully.
"My folks are doing okay, they call or message every few months. It's slow going because an uncommon amount of plants on the planet seem to prefer warm-blooded organisms as their primary food source, but the atmosphere's nice and habitable and there's interest for a colony still."
