Lovesickness
A metavirus which targets those who feel love
Lovesickness is the colloquial name given to Anders-Quinn Disease, a Metavirus which originated on Venua. It was developed by the Syto as an offensive measure against the Venuan.
Transmission & Vectors
Lovesickness spreads exclusively through Metalinks, but is specifically made to target the Venuan Groupmind. Those higher-class Syto with a Soul carry the condition, but in them it is inert due to their lower Sophonce and lack of love; it is only activated by the presence of affection and love within the soul, and so it goes active once it spreads to a Sophont.
Symptoms
A slow spiral into constant stress which exacerbates all existing mental conditions and will eventually result in more. The speed of this descent is directly tied to how loving or in love the induvidual is—if they are madly in love they may reach Terminal Insanity in a course of hours. Most induviduals take weeks.
Treatment
A thorough Auric Cleanse will dispel most cases.
Prognosis
Left untreated, Lovesickness will spiral into Terminal Insanity.
