Kalthinjar (Kall thin yar)

The Kalth, or Kalthinjar is a jungle land in southwestern Eveynjar. Home to the Kalthii, Panthranis, Maaridai, and countless others, it is a diverse and dangerous land. Once, these lands were plagued by the Arcanaean Dragon Aludrym and his followers, who sought dominion over all within this realm. Now it seems there are those who wish to revive this scourge to once again rampage within the land. Before Aludrym had caused the ruin of this land, it possessed a mighty empire that had not only claimed the Kalth, but Fahliilenjar and parts of Hallojar and Urrudea, under the might of the Panthranis, the vigilance of the Maaridai, and the wisdom of the human tribes that eventually became the Kalthii.
Currently ruled by a court of judges, the Chief Judge being Corianelem, the Kalth's main form of income comes in the form of trade. Due to the excess of gemstones, fruit, and abundant lumber, the Kalth has a plethora of trade that it partakes in. What truly confuses outsiders, however, is their flip-flopped value of copper and gold. Due to the actions of the Dragon of Drestruction Lythronax the Greedy, the majority of the copper stores in the Kalth are rather scarce, causing the price of copper to sky rocket, while gold can be found without issue in this region.  Because of this, most nations see the Kalth as either a nation of incredible wealth or an easy mark for scams.

Geography

The Land itself is characterized by a highland Conifer forest (Known as the Panth Pine Forest) in the northwest, tropical grasslands to the northeast (Known as the Kalth Puña), Mesas in the southwest (Known as the Opalline Canyonlands), the Saftor Isles to the southeast, and a massive jungle known as the Kalth Karst Rainforest that dominates most of the region, with each of these regions being described below:
  • Kalth Karst River Basin: Making up the heart of the Kalth, this massive tropical forest ranges from the Greabl'd Bluffs of the North down to the Saftor coast to the south. Incredibly dense and frought with dangerous wildlife, even the most seasoned of explorers and warriors have difficulty traversing this dangerous jungle. Countless herbs, fruits, lumbers, as well as prey and predators can be found within. There are four major parts of this region: the Kalth Tropical Seasonal Forest, the Forest of Embers, the Garnan Estuaries, and the Kalth River Delta.
  • Panth Pine Forest: A much higher altitude area from the rest of the Kalth, the Panth Pine Forest borders the Raydosa Mtns to the north, the Gidgidorai Mtns to the west, and the Kalth Karst Rainforest to the east, the Panth Pine Forest is where most of the trade from Hallojar and Yandaijar come through, giving this region a lot of draw to merchants, adventurers, and surprisingly archeologists who wish to study the ruins many of the towns and cities of the region are build upon.
  • Kalth Puña: A grassland that borders the eastern edge of the Kalth Karst Rainforest and the Mtns of Zaboris, the Puña is where many of the herders and farmers of the Kalth go for to feed their herds of beast or grow crops such as Maiz or Potatoes, which are transported to many other parts of the region.
  • Windless Hell: A flat, salt-encrusted destert on the Kalthic side of the Rosenaeid Peninsula, the Windless Hell offers little to those who would go there except for one key resource: salt. Due to this, many salt miners call this miserable place home, and transport it to many places beyond, including Kalthinjar's neighboring nation Fahliilenjar.
  • Mesal or Opalline Canyonlands: A peninsula that juts into the Southern Sea, making up  a large portion of the southwestern coast of the Kalth. Dominated by stunning mesas, the land is full of precious gemstones, causing its one major city, Crystalmire, to be one of the wealthiest in the nation. However, mining rights are often disputed with the Mesal Raptoran who live withinthe canyons and dislike the miners who disrupt their way of life.
  • Saftor Isles: Off the southern coast of the Kalth, this volcanic archipelago is home to the Kalth's most important port city, Saftorspire, where all oceanfaring trade in the Southern Ocean.

Localized Phenomena

Due to the wet season of the Kalth Karst River Basin, the region is prone to prolonged flooding and sinkholes can be frequently found in the region.

Climate

The Lower Kalth (below the Greabl'd Bluffs) experiences a wet/dry season which can cause regional flooding along the Kalth River during the height of the wet season and mild drought during the dry season. The Upper Kalth, however, experiences more seasonal weather, experiences mild summers and winters, but enough that snow builds up at the highest of latitudes.
Additionally, the Kalth Puna is a much drier climate, experiencing less rainfall than either the Tropical Rainforest or the Panth Pine Forest, but more than enough to grow some of the Kalth's quintessential crops, such as Maiz or Potatoes.

Fauna & Flora

The Flora and Fauna are based off of and/or from South America (with the exception of some mythical beasts and assumptions of this world and how species migrate). These include creatures like Argentavis, Thylacosmilus, Megatherium, Panthera onca augusta (Pleistocene Jaguar), and many others. Plants include extinct genera and modern species like Soursops, Cacao Plants, Vanilla, and other interesting plants, including the Panthranis favorites the Fish Tree (also called the Rotten Fish Tree) and Crab Grass!

Natural Resources

The Kalth has many exotic spices and species that it trades with other regions. The natural resources it does possess, however, are jealously guarded as their jungle home is a hard and dangerous mistress to deal with. These include stone such as granite, limestone, and sandstone; metals like copper, iron, and gold; woods such as mahogany; and crystal like opal, quartz, obsidian and emerald.

History

The Kalth is home to many legends and histories, many old nations and long-lost empires. Only time will tell when or where that ancient history will surface, and how it will change the history of those who dwell in the jungle that causes its people to forget their past.
