Panthranis
The Panthranis are a race of cat people that live in the southern reaches of Eveynjar, primarily in the lands of the Kalth river basin. They are a proud people, very seldom to ask for any outside help, even if that problem is an Arcanaean out for blood. That being said, they are skilled with bladed weapons and fire spells, making a devastating combination against most foes that aren’t well protected.
Panthranis culturally are separate from the Kalthi in many ways. The first thing that separates them is the use of family names. Panthranis come from clans, each vying for some way to differentiate themselves from the other in some significant way. The most notable were Clan Greabl'd, who were renowned as exceptional Bladesmiths.

Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Surpirsingly Panthranis have no unique language, but they do sound significantly different than other races around them. Panthranis sound quite similar to Khajiit, but with more of a Romanian style.
Culture and cultural heritage
Panthranis look up to the Draiconians, and idolize the dragons. Their weapons and armor reflect an influence which seems apparent to those who are in the know. Opals are commonly socketed into weapon and armor alike, and blades are curved and flame-like.
Shared customary codes and values
Whatever a Panthranis does, they might work as a team, but they all do things individually. Attacking an enemy? A Panthranis will stubbornly do it alone, even when that enemy is much stronger than themselves. Trying to make something? If someone tries to help them make an object, it will actually damage the roll of the Panthranis. Panthranis take pride in their individuality, and are stubborn when it comes to accepting help.
Average technological level
Panthranis possess a level of technology equivalent to the end of the medieval period. They have the makings for magitech, but lack the skill or know-how to make it and are barely able to make workable gunpowder weapons.
Common Etiquette rules
Panthranis etiquette varies widely between clan, but it is a common custom to do things yourself. If you need more water at a guests house, you grab your cup and pour yourself some more. Need more food? Serve yourself. However, this doesn't mean that the host provides all of the meal. In fact, it is the guest who provides the ingredients to the meal.
Common Dress code
Panthranis wear anything that is clean and fits.
Art & Architecture
Panthranis love using fire, animals, and natural things in their artwork, even using live plants to make living art. In their Architecture, they readily use adobe, fabrics, woods, and sandstones in the structures they make, giving their settlements a unique middle-eastern appearance.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Besides their individuality, Panthranis honor their past. Those who have fallen among their kin are revered by the entire community, and use them as examples for their children to look up to. Those who live to old age have the children of the neighborhood to tell stories to.
Birth & Baptismal Rites
Panthranis celebrate the birth of a child, and greave if they leave the world too soon. For them, a child is innocent until the age of accountability, generally around 8-12, so to baptize a child to them is an abomination.
Coming of Age Rites
Panthranis are considered to come of age when they fully know what they want in their life. As soon as this happens, a Panthranis is considered an adult. This may lead to some really young soldiers and really old "man-children".
Funerary and Memorial customs
Whenever a Panthranis dies, instead of being buried in a cemetary, they are cremated and cemented into a statue that depicts them. These are often kept in crypts with the things that defined them in life, like certain jewelry or a sword. Their stories are generally written down and told to their descendants on a Day of the Dead-like holiday. Generally their favorite herb is used as an incense.
Common Taboos
Panthranis keep the dead far away from the places that they live, generally in necropoli.
Common Myths and Legends
Panthranis have many myths and legends that not only do they tell their children, but may have factual stories behind them due to the archaeological evidence of their ancestors. See the Myths and Legends section to see all the stories they possess.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Panthranis find beauty not in their own appearance, but by their accomplishments. Looking pretty isn't necessarily bad, but proving your strength by taking down a centirak? That not only proves your worth in the eyes of the Panthranis, it makes you look attractive. Panthranis also like to flaunt these accomplishments. Is your Panthranis weathly? Then things like jewelry will be commonplace on you. Is your Panthranis in the military? They will have something to prove their worth, like numerous scars, detached withered ears, a collection of their enemies' weapons, or something of the like. Due to this mentality, fame means nothing if you don't have the proof to back it up.
Gender Ideals
Unlike other races, Panthranis don't put much weight into defining gender. For them, gender is just what parts you have on your body and nothing else? Want to be a warrior princess? Panthranis don't care, just do it.
Courtship Ideals
Panthranis consider relinquishing their defining quirk talked about in the beauty section as a sign of not only courtship, but a sign of engagement similar to the human custom of an engagement ring. By relinquishing the thing that makes you.... well you in the eyes of a Panthranis is to make your defining beauty your devotion to the one you care for,
Relationship Ideals
Panthranis put their all to any relationship they have, at least until they get distracted. This makes any relationship with a Panthranis an interesting and maybe frustrating endeavor. One second they may be all in and leading a conversation, and the next fiddling with something on their person or stalking some little bug or rodent.
