Bindium

Bindium is a amazing and unusual metal that barely follows the laws of nature. A naturally occurring amalgamation of Pewter, Bismuth, Osmium, Maan'ullin, and Ku'uh crystals, it appears as a violet-colored material that easily molds, though its rarity and the ability to absorb spirits makes it an uncommon sight.

Properties

Material Characteristics

In ingot form, Bindium is violet with accents similar to brass and bismuth. Other than that, it appears as a normal metal.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Bindium has the unique ability to store bits and pieces of spiritual energy. As such, many sentient weapons have accidentally been created through the use of this rare metal.

Compounds

Bindium is an essential material for the creation of Chaiyjussian Steel.

Geology & Geography

Bindium is exceedingly rare. Only two known locations have been known in Eveynjar. One is in the high tundra near the Passabalt mountains, and the other is hidden deep in the Kalth Jungle.

Origin & Source

Bindium is generally found in an ore called Bindite.

History & Usage

History

Bindium was first used by the Chaiyjus Diivanne, who found it useful to bind their enemies souls into the very blades that slew them. Though this practice died with Valoreum, occasionally Bindium is used and the cycle restarts, trapping spirits in the blade of a person that thought they were using a Maan'ullin weapon.

Discovery

Bindium was discovered by the Chaiyjus early in their years in Valoreum, some 95,000 years ago.

Everyday use

Bindium is often more of an accidental use, being used in the same objects as Maan'ullin.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Bindium has significant symbolism in Chaiyjussian beliefs and is used frequently in their artifacts.

Refinement

Bindium needs refinement from its ore.

Hazards

If you accidentally Knick yourself with it while trying to craft with it or simply use it, you trap a part of your spirit within, giving the artifact sentience.

Reusability & Recycling

Bindium is recyclable, though the spirit inside is not. When reshaped in a forge, the heat allows the spirit a chance to escape.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Due to its rarity, only those who actually know what it is value it for its actual price. Also due to its rarity, no nation trades it.

Law & Regulation

Bindium blades are rare, but also come with laws if one is found. Trapping a human spirit voluntarily is prohibited, though proving that you didn't is just as hard to verify. These blades also come with many taboos due to this ability.
