Šeddas

Šeddas is a small city near the upper Indel River and the lake of Arctus. It is home to a large population of farmers and herders. It also holds a significant vein of high quality marbles and limestones, making it an important source of stone.

Seddas has 347 noble houses. The peace is kept by 270 guardsmen, and there are 94 advocates to assist with legal matters. For those more concerned about their soul, there are 1251 clergymen and 30 priests.

The trade of Lumber, Marble, Gemstones, and Limestone is important to the trade within Seddas.

Districts

  1. Old Seddas: The historic heart of the city of Seddas. It is home to most of the upper class and nobles that live in the city, as well as home to Seddas' Indeljarran National Bank.
  2. Stormdocks: The main docks district of Seddas, used specifically for transportation of goods and people across the Lake of Arctus.
  3. Limegate: The southern entrance to the city, and a point of lumber trade for the Indel Plain Hold. It is a middle-class district that also functions as one of three market districts. It also has a docks districts that is used by local merchants.
  4. Northdocks: The norther docks district dedicated to fishing. Many fish mongers can be found here.
  5. Northwharf: A middle-class district that also regulates travel in the Upper Indel River. 
  6. The Marble Citadel: The city's regulatory authority. It is run by Thegn Salleek, who deligates many of the cities mayoral functions to his cousing Lendman Samoset. It was built by the original founder of Seddas as the original capital of the Indel Plain, which was then moved to Jorun after an event known as the Wrath of Babylon.
  7. Marble Knot: A small district that surrounds a marble quarry. Though the quarry has been extensively mined in the past, it still continues to yield large quantities of high quality marble that is used for many of the city's exports.
  8. Marblesong: An artisenal district dedicated to the almost exclusive use of marble into making products. It is the third-largest district in Seddas, and one of the most trafficked.
  9. Appleside: A food market district that sells a cultivar of apple known as Stahl'crisps valued for their ability to reproduce in the cold climate and their cold, crisp, and refreshing fruit.
  10. Orchard-fair: A residential and market district that has a fairly transient poppulation of farmers, herders, and food peddlers. It acts as a stop on the trade route between Icewharf, Eldyrdale, and Jorundarja. 
  11. Wolfshütte: Also known as Wolfenlodge in common, it is mainly an adventurer's district the houses plenty of taverns, inns, and blacksmithing shops. The district was originally a shanty town housed by a large population of Wolfengarde, who learned to make their trade on hospitality.
  12. Lime Court: The largest district in the city of Seddas. Built around large limestone quarries, the district prospers on trade between the Indel Plain and the Eplepa Forest, as well as the adventurers that venture into caves uncovered in the quarrying process.

Architecture

Seddas architecture is made of high-quality limestone and marble, leading to many reliefs, sculptures, and gargoyles no matter the district one finds themselves in. Due to this, gardening is a huge past-time for the locals.

Land Features
  • Lake of Arctus: The massive lake centered within Indeljar. It is a haven for merchants and fisherman, but also form monsters such as Mishipeshu and Ahk'lut
  • Upper Indel River: The upper reaches of the Indel River, aides with trade between the Indel Plain Hold and the Rothedomic Boreal Hold.
  • Hidden Arrow Formation: A strata of metamorphic marble found just under the western edge of the city of Seddas. It has been extensively mined for thousands of years, but it seems that it goes on as demand continues.
  • Lime Court Formation: An extensive strata of limestone found just above the Hidden Arrow Formation that extends as far west as Rav'nside. 
  • Eplepa Forest: A stand of fir forest that extends most of the distance of the Heightless Divide. It's lumber is highly sought-after.

Climate

Almost indistinguishable from Jorundarja, but the locals will beg to differ.
