Armis

There was the toughest...

No other titanframe is Armis' equal when it comes to pure might, and no other titanframe can beat it out for die-hard loyalty. In a way, it is a spiritual opposite to Pugna, the attack frame. It devotes itself to order, following the leader without question, and is ready to defend those its pilot has pledged loyalty to from any potential usurper. No pilot in its history has ever betrayed their own faction, and indeed, it is often the responsibility of Armis to stop rebellion and upheaval wherever they occur. Armis will never waver from that sacred duty, and this sentiment is always reflected in its pilot, no matter the circumstances. - The Annals of Catalyst II (Revised)

Summary

As the second Titanframe to be completed, the intent behind Armis was to create the "shield" to Pugna's "sword", the defense to the offense. It precedes Feminam, which uses a less cumbersome but weaker variation on Armis' fullbody shielding. What it lacks in speed and maneuverability, it more than makes up for in superior defensive power; beyond a nigh invulnerable body, Armis creates energy shields capable of protecting fellow titanframes or large numbers of allied units, or even structures and compounds.

History

Being one of the first Titanframes to be built, Armis a deeply ingrained sense of duty, loyalty, and commitment, imprinted on its Geometrid Core by countless pilots that shared those very same traits. For this reason, no pilot in its history has ever turned against that which they have allied themselves with, consistently proving their dedication to the people or cause they pledged themselves to. Due to this, Armis has a long history of conflict with the headstrong and free spirited Pugna, a Titanframe with a penchant for betraying its masters in order to pursue its pilot's righteous cause. Many times, Armis squared off against the wayward Pugna, forced to subdue it and bring its pilot to heel, sometimes to a deadly conclusion.   However, more often than not, Armis functions as a team alongside Pugna and Feminam, as was intended during their construction. When working in harmony, the three form a frightening and effective trio, capable of surmounting whatever odds pitted against them, and dominating all foes before them. Over time, new pilots developed new techniques and approaches to wielding the power of Armis, expanding its functions and improving its prowess in combat. Strategies for effective teamwork, bringing out the full potential of each Titanframe, further improved its effectiveness on any stage, and against any opponent.   The Loyal Defector To say that no pilot has ever turned against that which they pledged to is both true and misleading, and an argument can be made against it. From the standpoint of Armis pilots, both past and present, the legacy remains untarnished, but the fledgling Marleyan Empire of [insert date here] likely took a very different stance when Armis brought its might down against their armies, which once it stood before in defense. An analysis of that specific pilot's motives could shed some light on why modern pilots, though some may disagree with the actions, still consider the actions of [insert name here] patriotic.   From accounts of the incident, including those by the pilot himself, the following can be assumed: [insert name here] acted not in the name of his military, but in the interest of his people, the true object of his loyalty. To his mind - an opinion shared, if not reluctantly, by subsequent pilots - his government and military had no intention of protecting their nation's population, and therefore they stood against, and not with him. For him to attack their troops was therefor not an act of treason, and was in fact motivated by loyalty. This incident is of particular interest to scholars as it highlights a rare outlier wherein a pilot's personal interests did not align with the interests of their faction, and this suggests that Armis pilots, while stubbornly loyal, do not pledge themselves blindly. Far from being bound to their duty as soldiers, they will defect should their true values come to be threatened.

Armor and defense

Every Titanframe bears a name that represents its core concept, and for Armis, a name that means "armor" clearly denotes a singular purpose - this Titanframe was born to defend. Though every Titanframe boasts some degree of shielding, Armis takes it two steps further.
