It wouldn't have mattered who settle in the fertile Riverlands north of the Rozzengarde Highlands, they would be quite literally, bathed in gold. The area is known for its long winding tributaries and waterfalls that feed the Aureate River. The first family to discover the land were the Broadpeak's.
Becoming separated from the initial group of settlers that left Twiddlewyren with Tawny Fizzlebreach. A group of 17 individuals found themselves lost in a valley, low on supplies and food, and with a storm threatening them to the east and an arduous hike over the Highlands to the west, they hunkered down for the night. Much to their surprise, when the morning arose, they found a river, so overflowing with gold that it washed up upon the shoreline.
The patriarch of the family Donnard Broadpeak swore the other 16 members, all family and friends to secrecy knowing that if the riches of the location were known to others what could be an unparallel windfall would be lost. Though the initial settlers numbered in the double digits, within the next 7 months, 12 of the initial had died under what are believed to be mysterious circumstances, leaving only the Broadpeaks as the sole proprietors of the cleverly River City.

At the mouth of Broadpeak river sits the Riverside Inn & Bakery, made of smoothed Riverstone and overlooking the nearby sloping farmlands. The river's consistent flow is utilized in the form of a water mill providing a secondary revenue stream for the Inn's bakery.
The Gold Standard - River City sits at the mouth of the Laudable River, so called for its rushing flow against the rocks that line the riverbed creating what sounds like applause. The gold standard has become the most utilized standard house in the entire southern hemisphere. Despite the Goblins of Hatchetwink and their extensive network of banks and the Humans of Alttanes with their mints and gold stores, it would all come crashing down without the standardized processes for creating coins that are kept here.
Pinnick River Meat Pies is a stop for nearly every traveler heading west from Twiddlewyren. Known for an extensive variety of meat pies, baked to perfection by Candavalier Pinnick whose family settled in the area hundreds of years ago as hunters and trappers.
The fastest-running river in the area is Whiterapid Run, with only a few farming families living near the high flood area. Though the area is seldom used for industry, the free-flowing river creates a wonderful source of entertainment and adventure for those looking to tame the white rapids. Though a word of caution, as it isn't uncommon for those without appropriate river navigating skills to wash up on the shores of Vexguard.
Business at the Discount Spell Emporium has slowed in recent months due to some questionable business practices by 'Hagglin' Harvick but its still the best place to get magical items on the cheap. 
Alloy Jewelers specializes in creating a variety of different types of jewelry from red gold, purple gold, white gold, and rose gold. Positioned along the Faeworth Channel Allie Moria, who studied at the The Metallurgist Institute in Mithrigal owns the shop and has a keen eye for rare metals
