DamesPort
[History]
West of Spritzlewerks across the Scuddling Bay sits the small town of DamesPort. While mostly affiliated with Spritzlewerks, the town's population is nearly evenly divided between Sea Elves, Tabaxi, Gnomes, and Water Genasi. The racial diversity of the town is often a high point for travelers and tourists to the area, however actual citizenship, and the ability to own property or to own a business within the walls of the town are limited exclusively to its female residents. Founded during the Battle of Parce, a week-long skirmish between Elves and Gnomes in 1592, many of the residents of the now-defunct town saw no issue with opening Parce's doors to other races. Yet a substantial number of the population took significant issue with Parce abandoning its Gnome-centric stance for any reason. This caused a fracture, seeing many of its residents flee to the east, towards the Scuddling Bay prior to the battle and ultimate destruction of Parce. By sheer coincidence, all of those in favor of integrating Parce with other cultures, and by extension, those who escaped the town prior to its fall were all women. This accidental tradition of Matriarchial politics was quickly codified into law and now is the only city, town, or village in Espen in which all major landholders are women.[Locations]
Known not only for their high-quality work but also their exotic fabrics, DamesPort Fine Silks is inarguably a location most tourists stop at once in town. The silks here are not only sold by the bolt but also fashioned into fabulous attire for Espen's wealthiest nobles and kings. Inn for a Copper is not only a good place for adventurers to find a cold ale but also suitable accommodations. Despite the name, it's a relatively safe location to rest, though it has had its share of mysterious instances and occurrences. Utilizing the natural resources in the area, Trimmed! makes use of the more durable silks by producing sails. While the sails are more expensive, they have the added bonus of being lighter than traditional sails, thus adding to the speed of most vessels. DameSport Festival Grounds are utilized not only as a trade hub, highlighting a different industry each day of the week, but also plays host to the DameSports Games. Unlike most T.E.C.S. competitions, the DameSport Games do not set competitors against one another, but instead against a number of wild beasts from the inlands. Lady Luck is a small store on the edge of town that is a favorite of gamblers traveling through the area.
