Personal history
Madi was born in Washington, the Old Earth capital, on October 5th of 2299 to Marielle Thompson and Solomon Thompson. She was surrounded by books from a young age, particularly since her mother worked in the Grand Library, and her education could be mostly classified as "unschooling." Her parents encouraged her interests and enabled her to follow them without a lot of structure, and Madi came to love a broad variety of subjects. Alongside her friend Braedyn Carter, she became particularly interested in Old Earth lore and in astronomy, and these interests persisted throughout her life.
When she was five, Madi met Kaitlyn Walker, whose mother was a friend of Madi's parents. The two became fast friends, and Madi learned to write out of a desire to write letters to Kaitlyn. The two remained pen pals for several years, visiting in person when they could.
At the age of twelve, it was discovered that Madi had fire powers and was Potent—a fact realized when she accidentally set a batch of cookies on fire with her hands. The next year, she joined her Elect friends—namely Braedyn, Jeevan Kronus, and Kaitlyn—in early training. She was initially placed in a separate group, as their was already full, and learned alongside Miranda Lee and several others, though the friends continued to spend their free time together and effectively combined their groups in a social context.
When one of the members of Braedyn's group (and a friend of Madi's in her own right), Jara Lee Bronx, was killed during a mission, Madi was selected to fill her place. But everyone, including Madi, felt Jara Lee's loss and the group was never quite the same.
Madi was content with her Elect training and missions until, when she turned sixteen, a Shade named Thanos arrived at The Scarlet Reaches to claim that he had been promised the opportunity to tutor her. This, of course, caused conflict among the Elect for a number of reasons. This trouble was further complicated when Alem Johnson arrived shortly afterward, claiming to be the immortal magic-user who had first instated the Elect and claiming to be there to help with an enormous impending threat.
Madi and her friends survived that set of incidents and continued in their duties as Elect.
On May 17th, 2319, at the age of twenty, Madi married Braedyn. They had two biological children, Aleyna and Wyatt, and served as foster parents to many more (including a few that they adopted). Madi and Braedyn both continued to work as Elect and serve as foster parents for the duration of their very long lives.
Education
Madi was "unschooled" throughout her childhood, and began Elect private schooling in seventh grade. This private education involved physical combat training, studies on magic and magical creatures, and history (among other things).
Employment
When Madi was thirteen, she officially joined the Elect. Her first assignment with them wasn't until she was fourteen, and it was a simple supply run with her group. As the group aged and matured, they took on steadily more difficult and dangerous jobs. She was transferred to a different group when she was sixteen, due to an accident that left said group one member short.
