The Rook and Raven
The Rook and Raven is a building that is part of a terrace of buildings that make up one side of a city street. It has a wooden sign above the door with the name of the tavern as well as a smaller sign sticking out into the street. The smaller sign has the name as well as two black birds squabbling on opposite corners, one larger than the other. The titular Rook and Raven.
The building itself is consists of three/three and a half floors. A basement for storing the tavern's food and drinks, the ground floor which houses the tavern itself. The upper floor houses some of the inn rooms with some small rooms available in the roof-space (the half-floor). On the upper floor there is a bridge that goes over an ally way that cuts through the building into the second half. This second half houses a few more inn rooms for travelers and was an expansion by the owners to make more money. The 2nd half used to be a separate building until the bridge was made. The Rook and Raven building has a cobblestone appearance for the first third that's above street level, then the next half up is a Tudor timber framed exterior, the remainder is a terracotta tiled roof.
Upon opening the door to the Rook and Raven, guests are instantly greeted with the smell of hickory smoke that is coming from a large wrought iron fireplace that is to the right of the main entrance in a seating area designed for people to have a conversation while keeping warm around the fire. The interior is dark. It is well lit, but the walls, and decor are dark colours to match the theme of the tavern. In spite of this, the interiour feels warm and welcoming.
The Tavern's bar is made of a rich dark oak and looks as sturdy as the old dwarven Barkeep, Jakkek Coppercloak. Behind the bar, large kegs and barrels of old brands of ale, mead and rum line the walls. The closer to the bar a guest gets, the more they would smell a different kind of smoke, this time mixed with herbs and spices coming from the kitchen that resides behind the wall of kegs.
Hanging from the ceiling are hundreds of dream catches that adorn the thick wooden beams of the tavern, all have the feathers of various corvids as part of the design, some have beads and even jewels worked in to help their appearance.
Crows are also seen to fly in through an open window above the main door over to a large shelf above the kegs behind the bar, where the tavern has some wine for the birds to drink.
Alterations
A small bridge was added on the 1st floor up to join two buildings when the business expanded to have more rooms for people to stay.
