The Spiran are humans who live in the dessert of Taris along the fertile banks of the
Spira River.
Although they were originally one people, the Spiran consider themselves to be above the
Tarin nomads who now roam the dessert; thus the change of demonym to evoke their life-giving river.
Due to the dry climate and lack of rainfall, the Spiran stay very close to their river as they rely on it to irrigate their crops. Due to the lack of grazing land, their diet is mostly plant and fish based.

Sand may strike as usual for an important export, however, the shipments of dessert sands are what allowed the
Ushann town of
Iris to compete with its sister city,
Armeria Maritima, in the glass making market. The unique white sand beach of the seaside town Ameria Maritima, and the secrets of Mage Glass tightly held by their craftspeople, had allowed them to corner not just the glass making market, but political control of the
Ushanni Government- that is until sand from Spira allowed Iris to tip the scales back a bit.
Spices
Spices harvested by the Spiran are important to good cooks all across the land, especially as they are the largest salt producer in the area.
Fashion
Fine linen undergarments are highly sought after by the wealthy to the north, as well as the fashionable outerwear for the hot summer months.
