Caldrin
The caldrin is a rare species of undead Harpy. Its wings are black with feathers. Its skin is a dark, faded bluish-gray. Its head is an exposed skull with glowing red eyes. More black feathers accent the sides and back of the skull.
Caldrins are Necromancer experiments given sapient unlife. Lolirian the Madcap Mage created them, but the necromancer died at the hands of a vampire assassin during a deal gone bad. The caldrins were left to wander Ereset. Many of them fell in with other necromancers and their undead hordes, but some found ways to integrate back into mortal society.
They are excellent scouts and can track prey for days. They can also fly for long periods of time, as being undead, they cannot tire. The ability that most distinguishes them, though, is their power to vanish at will. Combined with their power to sense the living and the presence of magic, caldrin make for some of Ereset's most deadly hunters.
Caldrins have little to no vocal capabilities. The few that can speak have voices so raspy as to be painful to hear. They are attracted to the sound of harpies singing, but they can't join in. They are shunned by harpy communities, who fear the undead curses even more than most.
