Necromancer

Necromancers are a type of Night Creature that can channel magic to animate the dead. Necromancers begin life as normal members of other sapient species. At some point in its life, they become fixated on their own mortality and seek immortality. They will begin worshiping an immortal who knows the secrets of life and death. The immortal will reward the worshiper with an artifact or sacred text containing the secrets of life and death. The aspirant studies the artifact and learns the secrets, transforming into a necromancer. The new necromancer may teach others the secrets of life and death, creating more necromancers.   The iconic form of necromancy involves animating the dead. The necromancer chants words of power while channeling negative energy into the a corpse. When the necromancer releases the spell, the body begins to rise and move. Once animated, the dead are not functional; instead, they obey simple commands given by the necromancer. They are also unable to speak, but can understand their master's speech.   Necromancers do not age, need to eat, drink, or sleep. They do still need to breathe, unlike most night creatures. They must be careful about how much time they spend away from their towers, as they risk attack from other seekers of immortality. If the necromancer dies without leaving behind an apprentice, their tower will fall into disrepair, and the land around it will revert back to nature.   Necromancers experiment with living creatures and corpses to further their understanding of life and death. They often create new forms of night creature this way.   Necromancers, like all night creatures, are powered by Stasis. Because of this, they make all living creatures feel cold and instill them with a general sense of dread.
