The Fall of the Children and the Birth of Death

Summary

When God had created the Ever-Created and the Children of God, He had made once concept without twin: life, beautiful, diverse and ever changing. And He gave all of Creation to his Children, except the gift of Creation, for He knew that if they got that power, they would die. But one day, a spider whispered to the Children of the powers they could have, and the Children disobeyed God by drinking of the river Styx. Then they lost their Ever-Created forms, and God was angered and saddened greatly. Then he wept and created death, the twin of life, and created a realm subject to its rule where the Children could create for themselves but would live and die until their souls returned to their Creator and their bodies to dust.

Historical Basis

The story of the Fall is considered to be historical. The Church and rare sceptics may disagree on its exact degree of truth, but they agree that it tells a fundamental truth about the nature of the Material Realm and its relation to the Ever-Created and about the nature of life.

Variations & Mutation

The story of the Fall of the Children is contained in the Elvish scriptures, specifically in the Incipium of Valeryn, their first book. The Elven religion interpreted the story to refer to their race and their ancestors the Eladrin alone. Many pre-Filian and pagan religions have a story telling of life's creation in the Immortal Realms and an exile in the Material Realm. The story was taken up by Filianism in a more universal way, now referring to all the Children Races and their respective ancestors. Theologians point to the traditions of other religions as proof that they are part of universal revelation and contain a grain of truth.
