God

(a.k.a. the Heavenly Father, the Architect of the Light)

God is the name conventionally given to the omnipresent, omnipotent and omnibenevolent deity worshipped as the Heavenly Father in the ancient Elven religion and its offshoot, the influential Filian faith. He has also become identified with the Architect of the Light honoured as the creator deity in the old Dwarvish religion. According to the Fatherly Precepts (and mirrored in most religions), God created the Immortal Realms and the people or peoples known as the Children of God. When the Children were misled by a spider and offended God, He banished them, creating death as a twin to life and exiling them to the Material Realm, where they would live until they returned to Him.   The old Elvish religion claims the Children were Elves, and God gave them His Fatherly Precepts to rule their now-linear existence, setting twelve constellations in the sky to remember them by (hence why the Precepts are symbolised in both Elven and Filian symbolism by twelve stars). According to the Filian religion, this is a misinterpretation. While God favoured the Elves, His firstborn, the Children were in fact all of the races now known as the Children races. Filians believe that their prophet, Filius Larethias, was the divine incarnation of Corellon Larethian, the first Child of God, come to guide the Children races to the true light of God's purpose for them and save them from death and exile in the Material Realm.   The Filians believe, in accordance with ancient names of God given to the great prophet Valeryn using a tense of the verbs "being" and "creating" which is simultaneously past, present and future, that God is not merely the creator but the "Once and Ever Creating". His sempercreative nature extends not merely to the Ever-Created where it is most apparent (in the eternal cycles subject to God's creative will and energies) but also in the Material Realm, the site of a plan by which God seeks to let his creatures share in unity and creation with Him. Filians believe that the coming of Filius Larethias was the first act in the Recreation of the Once-Created, freeing the Children from the Rule of Death and perfecting their powers of creation in anticipation of Filius's return and victory in the Eschatus, after which the Once-Created world will be transformed into the Once and Ever Created, a perfect paradise and apotheosis of the world.
