Kingdom of Sigsland

Now defunct kingdom in the northeast of Ettrea. The region was settled by the Siggs towards the end of the War of the Elves and the Giants. The Siggs were a human tribe who had refused to serve The Old Empire. They settled on land that had been lost by the Empire during the early days of the war (mostly the former Kingdom of Martell, but had not been reclaimed as the Giants retreated.
According to legend, the Siggs were led by the hero Hus aef Sigg. However, Hus (if he did exist) did not remain in what became Sigsland. Instead, the Kingdom was founded by Hussin (who may or may not have been the son of Hus).
The Kingdom survived The Anarchy largely unscathed, and prospered as an independent kingdom through the first two centuries of the New Empire until it came into conflict with the increasingly powerful Empire. Imperial scholars refer to this conflict as theSiggish Wars. The wars were a series of boundary disputes, skirmishes and outright wars. They ended with the Empire's conquest and annexation of Sigsland in 371.
