The Anarchy

The period between the fall of the Old Empire and the founding of the New Empire. The Anarchy lasted thirty years, during which time most of the structures of the Old Empire fell apart. Petty warlords arose to fill the power vacuum, but few reigned longer than one or two years before being overthrown. Famine and poverty and pestilence were common.
