Clan seat is the walled town of Leon which is surrounded by a wooden palisade. B’ran Caradoc Welkan and his vassal lords who hold the surrounding clan lands which stretch from the western shores of the Gar peninsula to the Jars forest in the east and the shores of the Gar Estuary
in the north. The original seat was Caer Welkan and is a long day's ride south of Leon. B’ran Welkan travels there
infrequently however his stewart does a fair job of running the holdings. Clan Welkan also has two B’rants (Fryee
and Lee) which hold small to medium sized motte and bailey shell keeps being either near to or within walled
villages.
The clan’s economy is a mix of salt, fish, grains (including linen) and a mixture of cattle, pigs and sheep. The hill
country of the Welkan Clan also contains several significant peat bogs and therefore supports the export of peat.
Some tree fruit but largely for local consumption and minor export of seasonally fresh or off season dried to
neighbouring clans. They do however make an exceptional cider that does make its way to select inns throughout the
region and even the capital.
Caradoc and his wife of clan Barsim have a single 10 year old male child who has just entered the schools of the
college of light. He wasexpected to master his knightly skills but has yet to prove that his warrior skills are of the
same degree as his father. They are expecting another child before the end of this year. Tilly Barsim Welkan (sister of
Eorl Barsim) is most times in Clan Welkan’s hereditary seat of Caer Welkan not preferring the hustle and bustle of
the town of Leon which her B’ran husband adors.
High Clan Chief Welkan wears full chainmail (+4), sword (+5) & (+4) lance
B’ran Welkan is especially talented with the lance and in his earlier years won all of the Urtind jousting tournaments
he entered.
