Queen's Lance
The Queen's Lance is a distinguished and elite military branch with a multipurposed role in the protection of world leaders and the maintaining civil order. Its origins can be traced to a unstable era in history, which lead to the main body of the western kingdom (Magnesia) to form this specialized sub-branch of military fighters. The organization has several members, and they're considered important rogue elements of the western kingdom to act where it may be too discey for the government bodies to act upon themselves. Because of how it works, there's quite the responsibilities of one for just one person, but sometimes these responsibilities (not the main one but the ones under the main one) can be traded off between the members as necessary, such as if one decides to call out sick.
Easia does not recognize the Queen's Lance, so they do not have the proper authority to do what they can like in the western kingdom. This forces them to stay confined - or at least regulates them to a police-force foreigner- but the western kingdom is fine with that and believes it would only cause the responsibilities to be more stretched out as they already are.
Below is a list of the current, active Queen's Lance members during the main story of VANGUARD:
Adam Bahn, aka Tiger
Adrian Bahn, aka Lion
Thanatos, aka Serpent
Jackson Demosthenes, aka Fox
Rille of the Four Tides, aka Barracuda
Thrynden Dirge, aka Wolverine
Jensen Strelle, aka Vulture
Belphie Mendacia, aka Sloth
Fagan MacIntyre, aka Wyvern
The organization has strong ties to VANGUARD due to The Duchess and Biste having previous occupations within the Queen's Lance. They were in talks with the president several years back in the 20th century, and the president decided to make VANGUARD an extension; just without the immunity and some other responsibilities being limited.
Structure
Lancelets are the leaders of the occupying police force (called the Constabulary), which means any and all police personnel must respond to them. However, their operations take place in Magnesia for the most part, as well as them remaining personally there. If a Queen's Lance leaves their post to occupy another QL's post, it's usually grave and pretty drastic.
Each Queen's Lance has their duties that they have to know, along with knowing each other's roles and duties if one gets sick or injured inside or outside of combat. Adam is very good with fighting in a general style, while Rille is full on relentless assault and Belphie staying back with defense as examples.
There's also official titles that each member may have that helps with the structure of the organization, such as Adam being the leader and treasurer and helping secure and move funds in order to help provide for various operations that takes place. The roles of the current members are shown.
- Adam: Leader and treasurer. On top of being the one in charge of all the other members, he handles all of the funds and is responsible for arranging how they're both gathered and stored. He also has the final say in how operations are carried out, being able to veto the ideas of other members.
- Adrian: Second-in-command and correspondent to the Divine Light. He's able to act as the leader in the event Adam isn't around. When it comes to matters that deal with Voidseeds or Revenants, he's the one who contacts an official within the Divine Light religion to request their assistance.
- Thanatos: Hand-to-hand combat trainer and investigator. As a brashur who had the luxury of training under a boxer from Ni'Avan, he can train any and all members both veteran and new in hand-to-hand combat. He's also the one sent out to do covert investigations as his natural charisma and nonchalant attitude make it easy for him to look into matters.
- Jackson: Tech specialist and correspondent to the VANGUARD. His affinity for technology makes him the one to utilize any new and advanced tech that the organization has at its disposal. His friendship with Eurydice is what makes him best suited to coordinate with and request assistance from the VANGUARD.
- Rille: Ambassador and Curse Specialist. Her bubbly and friendly demeanor make her a natural choice to be sent out to other organizations to make connections with them for the Queen's Lance. She's been able to make several meaningful partnerships this way, and she knows many other leaders by name because of it. She also helps individuals with any kind of cursed state or affliction, like the behemoth curse or chaos syndrome.
- Thrynden: Siren patrol officer, otherwise known as a monitor. Due to his large build and extreme strength, he was chosen to be a monitor for any and all registered sirens within Dross as he could best fend one off if attacked. He was - and still is - Rille's monitor, though he's much more lax about her now that he knows her more closely and can easily report her activities.
- Jensen: Techno-Arcanist. He develops and maintains magically and advanced technological tools used by the organization. This can be from enchanted weapons the more magic-inclined members may use, to advanced technological weapons that Adam uses to fight or guard with. The others also rely on him for dealing with specific issues or concerns with anything magical, since he's very well versed in it, even more than Belphie is.
- Belphie: Nurse and Requisition Officer. She acts as a healer both in and out of battle, having some experiences in nursing school and now working her way up to be a full blown doctor. She also helps the organiztion and even in some cases VANGUARD for getting supplies for healing or for defense by using her contacts.
- Fagan: Courier/Archivist. He assists the government in getting messages to and fro other government bodies in the western kingdom such the ruling government of Helholtt, as well as the overall body of western Sur'Dahl's Hefunet. He can even tag along with Thanatos as an investigator because hhe can then send information out to the governing bodies that it concerns to. He also archives any information that the organization documents or finds, adding it to the library, and securing confidential information.
Culture
Elite Training: Members are required to do rigorous training in combat, intelligence, and crisis management. They are experts in a wide array of disciplines, from marksmanship to negotiation, and most, if not all, must have these various traits.
Leadership: Members have to show that they are strong leaders who can lead a team of police officers in times of need, and especially when there is unrest throughout the western kingdom. Whether its a daevah attack or a surfacing low leveled voidseed, they must become the pillar of strength that the others can stand on.
Adaptability: Members have to be adaptive and can either transition into another member's role and duties with smooth effort, or even be capable of taking on harder tasks when necessary.
Technological Advancement: Members are expected to know how to use state-of-the-art technology that will be associated with the task at hand. By doing so, they can finish a mission with no risk to people or harm in the reputation of the governing body.

Assets
The Queen's Lance has many assets that can help with getting their job done.
- Knowledge and Intelligence: Queen's Lance members have access to a large library of information, both written in physical form and saved on databanks that can be torrented between members at any time. This information is important to relate to a current situation at hand (i.e dealing with a violent daevah that has repeated appearances in history). This information is also completely barred from the public, and for some reason previous Queen's Lance members don't retain the information once they leave the organization.
History
The Queen's Lance was first formed in the period during a time of instability of political authority the western kingdom had, when a queen as the head the government. It was formed as a royal guard sworn to protect the queen and enforce her law when necessary. Unlike the police officers at the time, the Queen’s Lance was under direct orders from the queen, and were required to follow those orders.
The name symbolized the queen's will, her "lance" to enforce her law onto the western kingdom without being held down by the parliament at the time. As time went on, their responsibilities were went from exacting the queen's will and being her weapon to becoming a section of the royal court policing the kingdom's citizens and being apart of serious political agreements. The name never changed, however, because they just had no idea on what to rename it to.
There have been several controversies and special events that have either made people cheer on the organization, or leave a bad taste in one's mouth from the black stain they have caused on the police force as a whole. The more infamous one was during the 20th century period called
Hallowed Era.
This time period marked consisted of various enchantments (potions being at the forefront) being banned throughout the western kingdom. The government had made police officers meld in as spies and bust the illegal operations that had sprouted for when the law was in place. While it was successful, with a lot of police officers being able to take down even mafia bosses who were profitting off of it, there was the realization that some of the activity the police were doing was pretty dicey; bordering right on the edge of illegal activities. This ended up causing the police officers getting arrested themselves, such as excessive force, bribery, falsifying reports, or not even reporting what they had did in the first place. This terrible association created a black stain on the main police force's reputation, and ended up extending to the Queen's Lance as well. Various members were caught doing even far worse, and used their immunity to bypass any crimes they would normally be be charged with.
Despite all of the controversial activities connected to the group, they still have remained in their position of law. Citizens are now pushing for the branch to be disbanded, which has caused president Arthur to become a polarized controversial figure in history; he has refused to sign bills and has even vetoed several bills requesting for the ban, with some other members of the government voting in his favor.
