Demographics

Bearingpool is what is seen across Terisirae as a "common town", with a good mix of varied and multifaceted races. All the major peoples are represented within Bearingpool's territory and among them each of their prominent subraces are often produced, creating a society with very thin margins of "majority" between each of the races. For instance, the Elves are the highest percentage of the town's population with only 11.332% of the total population, with humans being next at 11.325%

Government

Bearingpool exists under the control of The Assembly as is the case with every other settlement within The Commonwealth's control. Bearingpool is therefore subject to all legal requirements made by The Assembly.

Infrastructure

Bearinpool's crowning achievement is Port Ingenuity, a shipyard established in the middle of its downtown sector that serves a docking and deployment function for airships, a promising technology that was just beginning to be researched. Construction began in the year Y.E. 1085 when a royal grant from Colum allowed the town to hire Gresham Kemp, 6th Staff Master to oversee the construction and magical infusion of the first airship.   None have left Port Ingenuity in the 10 years since its construction but they anticipate a day in the near future where the sky is full of safe passenger ships--when the seas no longer dictate travel.   Aside from Port Ingenuity, Bearingpool is home to several adventurers guilds, the largest among them being K.A.C and Company and The Leather Bound.   The town's territory is also home to lumber yards that operate out of The Green Dreamer Woods and hybrid watermill/textile factories on the Kelsyvo River. Merchants visit the town often and its trade sector has been revitalized since the creation of Port Ingenuity.

History

In Y.E. 1095, following a string of strange disappearances in the coastal town of Tiriene, a group of adventurers met in Bearingpool with a young Ashley Moztel. According to Moztel, they arrived with the purpose of pushing forward to Colum in search of military aid from the crown, fearing an imminent invasion of otherworldly creatures from under the waves. Bearingpool itself was beset by the presence of The Assembly, the strictures imposed by the wealthy ruling class of Anbhor had long existed and exploited the many people of the town. During the short stay, Moztel found herself unable to keep from assisting where she could, even if the threat at the coast was the larger of the two. Her and the group of adventurers she traveled with agreed to delay their larger plans for a short while to make more immediate change.   Their destinies and the fate of Bearingpool were forever changed by the appearance of Ser Alduric Veren, a legendary figure and fugitive. The adventurers, Moztel, and Veren allied themselves together to liberate the people of Bearingpool from the injustices of The Assembly, gathering the public and instigating a city-wide riot against the unfair practices of the elite. With the city guard spread thin, the riot quickly gained control of the town in an incident known as The Taking of Bearingpool. Though violent, Veren had prepared himself and the people for their triumph, and as they came close to ridding the city of The Assembly's influences they began to calm. Those fires were once again stoked when the adventuring group allied with Veren suddenly betrayed and murdered him in front of an audience. That spark re-lit the riot into burning the wealthiest residences in town and chasing the adventurers out into the night, killing some of them in the process.   When the dust settled, Ashley Moztel was left to command the disorganized people of Bearingpool. Pain rested in her heart at the loss of Veren and the betrayal of her once allies. She used that pain to organize a defense against what she knew would be The Assembly's counterattack. Tiriene would have to wait, the people needed a leader.
