Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Ashley Moztel has survived 76 years, becoming stronger ever day as she forges alliances both personal and political and strives to liberate as many as she can from the corrupt and capricious powers that be.   Despite her age, she is just as strong as the day she battled for independence from The Commonwealth. Though her life span remains human, it is said that Kelemvor's power keeps her body in prime condition until she is ready to pass.

Body Features

Though she is not the tallest, Ashley is surprisingly lean, hidden behind a wall of solid plate mail, her limber musculature allows for feats of amazing dexterity.

Facial Features

Ashley has seen many conflicts, but her nimbleness has kept her from combat scars. She does have a small and barely noticeable scar under her left cheek from a childhood cooking incident.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Ashley Moztel spent her childhood on a farm west of Tiriene in a small province called Tarpin. With little else to do, she spent most of her free time tending gardens, raising cattle, and stabbing practice dummies with dull instruments. Her father, Byron, was a low-ranking adventurer who retired into the less prestigious line of Guard work. Despite never really making a name for himself, he remained hardened and years of battle practice and travel made him a stern, dependable sort.   Byron found the work to be fulfilling and took pride in his new position within his community. He sat on many county councils and found ways to assist his neighbors both in and out of uniform. He found making a name for himself here was more honest and satisfying than any pursuit of vain glory. Byron spoke ill of adventurers guilds, saying all through his daughter's youth, teaching her that the best way to serve the people was to join the law and to keep the peace, not to chase glory and coin under some guild banneret.   When he died, Ashley took his breastplate and headed east to join The Tiriene Dutymen.

Education

Ashley did not get a formal education at any school, instead her mother and father taught her from home. Much of her home learning was not dedicated to the algebra and literature that others her age would be enrolled in, and to this day her reading comprehension still leaves something to be desired. Instead, she learned math by doing inventory on the Moztel family farm and learned history from the war stories of her father and his old friends.

Employment

Ashley spent 11 years with the Tiriene Dutymen, entering as a simple Fence Guard and slowly working her way up Duty Captain.   After Tiriene fell during The Week of the Swelling Sea, Ashley was one of the only survivors to leave the southern shelf of The Commonwealth. She journeyed north towards a town that used to be called Bearingpool and found a town suffering under poor management and corrupt leadership. Her instincts were well honed from years of service and she quickly organized the working class to work against the entrenched interests. The situation quickly became hostile and violent, but after the dust settled Ashley Moztel was the assumed leader of a fully developed civilian revolution against The Assembly.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Ashley became the first woman to command the Tiriene Dutymen, and the youngest captain on record in the year 1089.   She helped battle back the mysterious forces of The Terisian Channel on Mirtul 21st 1095 Y.E., saving the town of Tiriene and its mythical lighthouse from certain destruction by the denizens of the deep.   As Ser Veren's second in command, Ashley led a regiment of average civilians against the corrupt and draconian institutions of Bearingpool. Her leadership and tact saved many lives, peasant and noble alike on the night of Kythorn 4th.

Mental Trauma

After defeating the forces of the deep, Tiriene was devastated and a majority of its citizens had been killed or taken someplace unknown. To fulfill her promise to herself, her father, and the people of The Commonwealth, she left Northward to seek an audience with Queen Cassandra and to beg for a contingent of troops to march to the coast and challenge the mysterious forces plaguing Tiriene once and for all.   Along the way, she traveled further from home than she ever had before, coming upon a small outpost town named Carlyle and the nearby Fort Yarten, an outpost used to rotate roaming troops out for the royal guards' forces--troops that patrol the entire Commonwealth from huge towns to tiny hamlets. The fort had recently become overrun with the citizens of Carlyle, displaced by natural disasters and drought. The small fort was barely equipped enough to feed the troops stationed there, and so the fort captain commanded his men to do the unthinkable. To lead civilians into the nearby woods under the presumption they would forage for supplies and then execute them.   When she confronted the fort captain about his treachery, about the abandonment of his promise to the people of The Commonwealth, he simply told her they were far enough away from the people who cared that he could do whatever he deemed necessary. She didn't hesitate to kill him and guide the people in Fort Yarten to the nearest town, Bearingpool.   Ashley now nurses a silent resentment for those in positions of authority, seeing the worst in them above all else. This comes with a dual characteristic of maternal coddling for those who rely upon the protection of governments, police, guards, and more.

Intellectual Characteristics

Despite Ashley's minor formal learning, she is a quick learner and the first to use her circumstances to her advantage. She can become easily distracted and is prone to splitting her attention between multiple duties.

Morality & Philosophy

Since her childhood Ashley has held strong convictions about her--and by extension her peers'--responsibility to the betterment of her community through service. She has been tested time and time again on these beliefs in ever-larger fashion and has yet to waver.
